The numbers are, all 3rd 439 & 454, 1st/3rd 541, 3rd/Guard 98. (not easy to read and I'm nearsighted) As I recollect at the point of ordering I was satisfied that the running numbers of the four coach set did not duplicate the numbers of those sold singly.

Hi, having read many of your postings, I'm glad to see this acknowledgement of knowing yourself. However while I think the fraternity on this forum in all probability generally possess a better sense of humour than those on RM, suggesting that so called "box openers" are not modellers may nonetheless be viewed even here as offensive. I think your skills and the things you do are quite fantastic, but this hobby is a very broad church and to each his own. Just because someone opens a box that contains a model that none of us could hope to emulate does not necessarily demean them as a modeller.

MRSI Dublin Show 2024 - All New Venue - All in One Hall
Ironroad replied to Blaine's topic in What's On?
It would be worth enquiring if the car park at Clontarf Rd. Dart Station will be open despite the fact there are no Dart services (over 100 parking spaces). Yes it is a little stretch of the legs up the Malahide Rd to Mt Temple but for anyone taking the Dart that would probably have been the best station to go to anyway. I don't advise attempting to park on adjacent roads , they are pretty congested already. As I recollect, there were about 60 or so parking spaces on the campus of Mt Temple, has this been curtailed due to the commencement of construction works which also seems to have contributed to closure of the Howth Road entrance? -
Since there is no apparent interest in these coaches I will withdraw them on Sunday Sept 29.

48 hours have passed, so now I'm getting worried. My order for Flats shows as paid and unfulfilled with an expected delivery time frame of quarter 3 2024. Yet the flats are showing as in stock and I've had no notification as regards shipping.

All IRM Bus Commissions Back In Stock In Very Limited Numbers!
Ironroad replied to Warbonnet's topic in Bus models
It looks like the Britbus business is being wound up, which is disappointing news and means these commissions will not be repeated. at least not from that source. The tooling for their range of models must have some value and hopefully someone will step in to acquire it. -
They seem to be separate incidents. A stolen waste disposal truck drove through the lowered level crossing gates in Sutton and that caused suspension of service between Howth Junction and Howth. The second incident which caused suspension of service on the main line occurred at Howth Junction and I would deduce this was much more serious and probably a fatality. Comment is usually quite reserved in such cases.

Hi DJ. In Ireland, VAT is not applicable to goods exported outside the EU nor is VAT applicable to the the associated costs of those exports. This includes postage, trucking, courier, airfreight, ocean freight, brokerage costs etc. Conversely on imports all those costs together with the actual invoiced value of the goods are taken together to establish the "Landed Cost" which is the figure on which VAT and Duties are applicable. Yes in effect they are applying vat on foreign postage but on the basis that it contributed to the cost of the goods.
-
Customs valuation for vat and or duties (if applicable) is "Landed Cost". So their assessment will take account of the invoiced value plus any associated shipping, courier, or postage costs.

There is a precedent for everything. Way back in the depths of time, the Rev Awdry (creator of Thomas the Tank) operated trains on his Tidmouth layout that carried different liveries on either side of the coaches. This worked quite well because the layout (an out and back branch terminus) was built around three walls of a room and exited into a return loop in an adjacent room. So since only one side of a train was visible at any time, as a train returned it appeared to be a different train.
