  16. Hi Railer, No, not yet. Well, if you look at the price of 141s these days on the second hand market it makes financial sense to buy new, as once these go, they're gone! Price seems to go up when anything sells out. But up to you. Cheers! Fran
  17. Happy Friday, everyone! The last of our decorated samples for view are a smorgasbord of painted bodies the factory sent to us, showing some additional liveries for sign off. Some of these are different numbers on the same livery like A30 and 054, but we also get the see the gorgeous lined green and utilitarian plain black liveries of the 1960s! The odd snail is missing here, and tweak is needed there, but we're well on course. We hope you enjoyed this daily reveal and our findings are being conveyed to the factory next week. After that we can move onto production! We will also have a preview of A Class sound coming up in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for that! Order lined green here: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/a-class-locomotive/products/a46-a-class-locomotive A30 Silver: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/a-class-locomotive/products/a30-a-class-locomotive A55 Black: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/a-class-locomotive/products/a55-a-class-locomotive 054 in IR: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/a-class-locomotive/products/054-a-class-locomotive
  18. I think you make a very good point, Gareth. There's lots of information above now so people can make the choice they want on how to spend their money. Let's leave the retail discussion at that. Let's focus on the 121 model itself from here on and enjoy this iconic loco getting ever closer to release! Cheers! Fran
  19. Hi everyone, Today its IR with dayglo panels in the form of 036! A personal favourite and how I remember them best towards the end (though Black and tan runs it close!) Again, there usual caveats apply, we will be making changes! Cheers! Fran Order yours here! https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/a-class-locomotive/products/036-a-class-locomotive Cheers! Fran
  20. As I said, many people have supported us, so I don’t think it can be described as counterproductive. The walk in trade is much smaller in Ireland than the UK and potential customer bases are much smaller, so I do think my point is more than valid. The big British box shifters will always have more customers than an Irish retailer. then there is potential of selling at the shows, of which there are much more in the UK and many of the UK boxshifters sell at many times a year. We have very few shows in comparison here. It’s multifaceted and not simplistic, otherwise Irish retailers would be doing it. End of the day the boxshifters carry huge product lines that would not be viable to carry here, and sales margin is across all of them. As I said, simple economics. I see the sales figures for an Irish outline model railway company in both manufacturing and retailing and a British one and there is simply no comparison in size and scale of the market. Have a good night. Cheers! Fran
  21. Hi Ironroad, I’m sorry, but the points are valid. Compare our product line in number to any of the big British retailers and it becomes clear how they can reduce sales margin across their inventory and make money whereas a smaller retailer like ourselves cannot. It’s very simple economics. Also, VAT is 3% lower and Sterling is in flux to say the least. However, I’m delighted to report that many people have supported us with 121 purchases and we are very thankful for that. At the end of the day; it’s your money, it’s your choice. I’m glad people choose us, as it shows we are doing something right and we can support Murphy Models AND put the money earned into tooling new Irish outline models . That’s a win for the hobby. Cheers Fran
  22. Because Irish retailers are sticking to the manufacturers RRP, while the boxshifters are slashing the price as they sell models in much higher volumes across all their product lines to a much larger market.
  23. Indeed, something that will be corrected. This was missed on the decorated samples for some reason. The numbering and IR logo will be getting attention too. Cheers! Fran
  24. Another day, another A preview! This time we look at the latter years of these beauties, with the IR scheme of orange, black and white striping as worn from the late 80s onwards! Here we see 017 before CAWS guard and dayglo panels. Once again some small tweaks are required, and the colour is washed out a bit in the pics (in person the orange is very good!) but overall it's looking very well! Enjoy! Fancy 017? You can place your order here: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/a-class-locomotive/products/017-a-class-locomotive
  25. 007 Reporting For Duty! Today we look at one of those quirky liveries that lasted longer than you might think! In 1987 the IR points logo began appearing following the formation of Irish Rail, with locomotives receiving the branding on existing "SuperTrain" livery. The A's in particular received this treatment in great numbers from 1987, and some were still carrying it into 1993! This livery has not been done RTR before, and we are offering two locos in this guise; 007 as seen here and 056! There are some decoration corrections required on this one, namely the black chevron at the front not extending far enough up onto the cab roof, and that IR logo on the side is too big. Both will be corrected before production! The colour is also a little washed out in these pics due to the very bright studio, but the shade of tan looks spot on in normal conditions. Pre-order 007 here: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/…/pro…/007-a-class-locomotive Pre-order: 056 here: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/…/pro…/056-a-class-locomotive Cheers! Fran
