  1. It definitely came together David!
  2. Indeed. Class work. Hard to tell it's N gauge.
  3. I think almost anything from the mid 50's is commercially viable nowadays as we have the RTR locomotives out there in the wild and the odds of a C Class are not insignificant (a locomotive that was withdrawn before IE came into existence). I entered the hobby wanting to do only 90's IE stuff. Then along came those delightful silver and green A's, so I bought A1, A30, A42 and A46 and then as I believed that the stock will eventually become available I bought B121 and B135. I strongly suspect I am not the only one who is now looking at earlier stuff too. It will take some time but I am personally fairly confident that this era at least will in time be well catered to by IRM. I do not believe, for example, that 3 packs of open plank wagons or 2 axle covered wagons wouldn't sell very well at this stage. They even have an advantage over bogie stock for those tight on space. This "moving back in time" phenomenon happened with GB outline modellers too. I suspect that we will definitely see bogie coaching stock from the mid 50's as this also had a long life into CIE and in some cases IR days, like the A's.
  4. I decided to take a chance on the convertibility of these to 21mm and have pre-ordered one of each, except the B&T one which is too late for my chosen era (the "green and grey era"). If, for whatever reason they are a mare to convert, I suspect I will have no trouble off-loading these as by all accounts the run is not huge and I expect them to sell like hot cakes to be honest.
  5. No need to dream Dave, the 141 is being rerun next year by PM and IRM are constantly releasing new freight stock so bide your time. Aside and not directed at your comment Dave: Without being in any way disrespectful to Hattons who have announced some very fine models here (with ample consultation of a very knowledgeable forum member), we should bear in mind that it was two Irish companies that finally delivered a suite of high quality RTR stock to us. If we had waited for a GB manufacturer to cater to the Irish market we'd still be waiting and Hattons would not have produced these coaches because there would have been no market to cater to. So while I welcome some "bits n pieces" from new to the scene RTR manufacturers, I think our core support belongs with PM and IRM. It's better for the future of our hobby if we patiently wait for these companies to release the models we want. This is not a dig at anyone or any firm, just a statement of what I believe to be fact. Have a nice weekend folks
  6. That's a good tip Eoin. I'll remember that one.
  7. I don't get ya? I presume he doesn't want to scratch build all his rolling stock. That's not what you mean, is it?
  8. 2mm brass rod cut into lengths would probably work too? Doesn't have to be bang on lenngth wise and no pin points required.
  9. And scrubbing it does nothing?
  10. There is no one size fits all paint stripper IMO. It very much depends on the plastic and the paint. IPA works well on Murphy Models, for example: It requires a decent soaking (overnight is best) then a bit of scrubbing with the old toothbrush and then another soaking for a couple of hours. I find two soakings will be enough to get back to bare plastic. That's 99% IPA. It also works in a similar manner for Lima coaches, as does brake fluid (I haven't tried brake fluid on MM models as IPA worked for me)
  11. That's good news. I would generally never be ordering less that two packs to avail of the discounted shipping to the EU when spending over a €100 so I guess I was unlikely to be able to redeem my reward points without this change.
  12. He attaches one when sending to Germany anyway.
  13. In some places they do compulsory land swaps so that farms are for the most part on one side or the other of the new road, railway etc.
  14. Definitely, sure Mungret used to be fed Gypsum from Kingscourt by rail too. It's not like there isn't a precedent. Aggregates trains to concrete plants with only the end product (concrete) going by road is a common way of doing things around Berlin anyway.
  15. It's insane that bulk cement goes entirely by road in Ireland. It's the thing that makes most sense to transport by rail, right into the cities where most of it is consumed.
  16. Is there not supposed to be a "top" on the brake reservoir cylinders?
  17. I am kind of relieved! Thanks for that
  18. The "problem" is Cathal, if they are "fairly 21mm friendly" then I will regret not buying the whole lot! I gauge the risk of being stuck with them as fairly low but I gauge the risk of me not wanting to part with them even if they aren't 21mm candidates as very high And Hattons Trunk means I don't even pay extra for throwing more and more of them into the order!
  19. I have a "sinking feeling" that a 21mm conversion wouldn't be impossible by any means on these coaches, with the help of a bit of 3d printing. Assuming all 3 assemblies are removable as in the picture on this page.... https://albionyard.com/category/southern/ I am starting to wonder should I order the complete set now and sure if they prove too difficult to convert I can probably sell them on of hold onto them should I need a kidney some day.
  20. Few layouts provide so many great angles per metre! And nice peaceful videos. The sight of an 8 piece fert on the move really is something to behold.
  21. I honestly can't remember the cutoff radius. I just saw this being pointed out on one of the youtube channels.
  22. The Genesis coaches centre axle has side to side play (it needs to or they would derail on curves). I think when you fit the footboards this play is limited and you can't get around smaller radii curves so as standard they are not fitted.
  23. Email sent!
  24. Limerick is an ideal city in which to develop commuter rail. It actually has railways that are not built on going out in multiple directions from the city. RTE reports that the new rail for the reopening is arriving into Foynes Port (presumably by ship). This all did rather come out of the blue for me too. I assumed it would be report after report and then nothing. If the line is rebuilt to carry freight it will be relatively trivial to add passenger services later. https://www.rte.ie/news/regional/2022/1114/1335959-foynes-limerick-rail-line/
