  1. This was the “last” IWT liner to operate to Ballina-yesterday Good to hear its resuming next week Having been out of traffic for over a year locomotive 232 is seen here arriving into Ballina freight yard yesterday afternoon.
  2. Passengers on board the refurbished Park Royal coach enjoy the comfort and bright surroundings prior to departure of the branch set.
  3. From CIE to IR.... A mixture of livery’s during the transition era in the late 1980s into the 1990s.
  4. A CIE themed evening on Tara junction. Working hard are 161+121 as they work a Shelton abbey to Ballina laden fertiliser 132+156 work a Waterford-Northwall BELL liner 126+135 work a Northwall-Waterford BELL liner consisting of some 30’ BELL containers.

Another productive weekend at Maam cross station when the volunteers installed a ground frame which was connected to the points leading to the platform, the ground frame is fully interlocked with the points and can only be released by the insertion of an ETS staff, well done to all concerned. The photos show the first train to operate over the interlocked points.

  8. The Junction had a lot of hidden gems..... Both 2600s railcars are operational....there are videos of them in operation on this thread.

  10. It was loaded onto the rear wagon of the IWT liner this afternoon in Ballina freight yard-it will be hauled by 073 on Monday morning to Northwall.
  11. Friday 07/05/21 we see 073 working the IWT liner on the Ballina branch just north of Foxford station.

  14. It’s an orange liveried themed bank holiday weekend on Tara junction with 124+134 allocated to work the ten piece Mk2 a/b set which is to work the Heuston-Galway-Heuston route all via Tara Jctn of course

  16. A return to Maam cross today for a driver/ guard refresher training which took place in glorious warm sunshine.

That sure was a quick nine years....Tara junction has certainly evolved through that time from a learning curve with DCC to the present day and the purchase of an ESU lokprogrammer to add even more variety to the sound chipped locomotives....Thank you to everyone that has commented on the layout during that time and to IRM and Murphy models for the fantastic models ....it has been an interesting journey

Good plan Robert,you could extend the container siding and install a facing point on the left which in turn would allow a freight/permanent way locomotive run around its train.via the platforms thus avoiding blocking up the station area, it would also provide you with a loop Something similar to the track plan of the current Longford yard.

  22. Reeling in the years-mid 1980s to be precise...a black and white image of 152+132 running around the BELL liner at the Lakeview freight yard.
