  1. American HO eh? Please tell me more! :)

One of the lads i went to school with models them. He has a fairly big layout 7m x 5m up in his attic. The ladies yap for the three days and we ressurect the IE gms in America and get drunk!!!!

  2. tom- where do you take the shots from?

O79 was taken from Newrath no 2 level crossing just off the old Dublin rd

The ones of the yard are taken from various points along the wall basically camera in the air and hope for the best. I also use the grassy bank on the other side of the dual carriageway if im using the bigger camera plus its handy to figure out where everything is.

The main gates to the yard are handy for the just arrived timbers as the they use the old cement siding.

O79 looking good on her way into Waterford on the timber this evening.Think the 47ft container flat might have been the reason for the delay going to Belview last Friday. The hauliers waste no time in starting to unload

Now to put them in there boxs for the journey:eek:

  5. It's a great read Tom. Wouldn't the Station building in Tramore make a great club house for a model railway society, with lot's of work involved of course.

    Rich,

    Man that would be class.

Im getting really tempted to model the line 3 x J26 from Des and away i d go :trains:. 555 was some engine a full month of August running on its own while the other two were out of service.

  6. Looking towards Tramore

    DSC02197.jpg

And the former trackbed on the bridge used by a local riding school

    DSC02198.jpg

    DSC02201.jpg

The trackbed ran to the right of the trees complete with telegraph poles which look more like trees

A bit further in theres still gate posts which although moved since closure are worthy of inclusion. One of the drivers on the line had a few acres here and is mentioned in the five minute bell which gives a good history of the line.

  7. Further pics of the bridge were hampered by the couple of hundred kilos of deise bull lurking in the field.

    DSC02200.jpg

Looking back towards Waterford and the last pic the embankment that was here was cut out due to flooding which still is a major problem in the area. There is also a rather low bridge at this location which has had its share of strikes judging by the paint on the roof

  8. Within the city boundaries

Despite the passage of over 5O years theres still some signs of the once great Tramore line within the city.

    Ring Road

    DSC02194.jpg

The trackbed would have ran through here

    city bound

    DSC02193.jpg

    Tramore bound

    DSC02192.jpg

Slightly further out just past the trees there was a deep cutting which is still in existence but is a black spot for illegal dumping which hampered further pics:(. At the end of the cutting there is a road overbridge

    DSC02202.jpg

While the cutting has been filled in at this point using spoil from an embankment further along at least the telegraph pole has survived

  9. For a change i followed the liner from New Rath to Abbey junction on foot starting at the usual

    DSC02159.jpg

Beat the rake as it was held for an ICR so got a few in before O72 arrived major changes have occured since the closure of the Rosslare line and even more so since the heady days of rail been delivered here in the late 9Os
