  1. The SF Sulzer took a belt of a shovel too it's very flat faced, but not quite as horrific as the A. cheers Harry!
  2. The Locomotive and Carriage Institution took a trip around the islands rail installations last year. Well worth a read gents if you like the inside of York Road, Inchicore, Portlaoise Depot, etc... http://www.lococarriage.org.uk/eire2015.html
  3. The side windows aren't even see through on the SF one, just painted gloss black panels.....
  4. Hubba Hubba!!!
  5. tampING also Ciaran not the smartest search engine on there.... http://catalogue.nli.ie/Collection/vtls000148612/Home?lookfor=tamping&submit=Apply
  6. I have photos of PW ballast plough dating from 1906 which like Triggers brush, survived on the ballast until a few years ago, and as many snaps in between. I also have photos of a tamper on Albert Quay , courtesy of Garfield, having come from Portlaoise. The tamper featured above is a rare beast, but I have 3, maybe 4 photos of it in a severely rusty state on both sides of the border in NIR and IR. The model above needs serious work to make it look like the one akin to here, and to make things more difficult, there was a similar vehicle re-issued years later that bears more than a passing resemblence. That's the one that Brittania Pacific model. If I get time on the Big Rig tomorrow, I'll upload what I have. R.
  7. Same here Harry. Attempts at updating the Ammonia assembly thread have failed. Flux Capacitor must be on the blink again.
  8. I like both liveries and coaches. Is it the European styling that upsets?
  9. Jaysus Harry, not stockpiling these bad boys for 16 years! And Aclass, I'm finding it hard to process that Concept! Need to ask Herrflick for his sage advice on the matter.
  10. Shur how could it? 201's don't have a tumblehome....
  11. As long as that cannon can fire dirty nappies, I'm in. Stuff is like depleted uranium...
  12. I suppose the concept of double heading never really existed in Ireland before that? Seems like a gigantic oversight.
  13. Kind of what I was getting at really. Brass kits produced by the likes of Linea are so high end, they easily match the quality of an injection moulded unit. Or even the stuff by Britannia Pacific (combo resin/brass) is the highest quality resin I've ever seen but the components are small. However, If you end up with cast ends, be they whitemetal or resin, they'll never come up to the standard of injection moulding as shrinkage tends to badly affect them. C'est la vie.
  14. A brass kit of an A Class? Would someone explain how you'd form the eliptical curve to the front, the compound curve to tie in with the eliptical roof, and the filler portion just where the cab light pods are? its impossible lads.
  15. Aye, multi-tasking. thought it was important for her to get some Bowie into her too - decent documentary on the beeb. They share the same birthday.....
  16. A tender date for Q2 2016 is never going to happen, even if the Design team have been appointed. Balderdash.
  17. Like a novice at brass kits, you have to jump in to it at some point! I have a prototype heavily weathered one to tackle shortly, complete both bunny rabbit decals! Again, thanks all. R.
  18. You bastards. I'm genuinely choked up here. I was trying to keep it shtum-ish, avoiding facebook posts etc, but after a couple hours or responding to messages there, thought I'd pop over here for a bit of "when is 21mm not really 21mm" etc. Ye are a genuinely passionate, and sometimes mentally unstable bunch of guys, but I'm really moved by this. Can't think of any other bunch of loonies I'd rather be attached to, aside from the good lady wife and Izzy, The last five years have been somewhat of a horror show for me in lots of respects, and this community has been an infuriating and brilliant crutch, all at the same time, a wonderful counterpoint to real life, even if I do shout and scream at times (JM - sorry) . But don't expect me to go gently into that good night, god no, there are some wonderful things afoot with IRM, and various other projects I've been tipping my hat at. No intention of shutting up shop any time soon, a certain GVS project needs to be completed... *insert joke about myself and the missus making miniatures* Richie.
  19. Not only is this wicked, but the company behind it, MCor, is Irish, based outside of Drogheda. http://mcortechnologies.com/3d-printers/arke-3d-photorealistic-colour-printer/
  20. Ciaran, You'll need to set a price on anything you wish to sell here, and the more photos you have the more chance you have of selling each item. Best of luck with the sale. R.
  21. That's exactly what I'm saying JB. They were supertrain - Then they had the white stripe added, so they were a mish mash of liveries. There were a few of the 121's that had this whilst the majority got the lighter MK3 orange, hence why you have a situation of IR 121's looking violently different to IE 121's. Cellulose paint doesn't fade to that extent either.
  22. Uhm, JB, one is not faded. One is in MK3 Tippex, the other in supertrain. There was a transition period. IR1996021 121 by d33206hg, on Flickr Prosecution rests, M'lud.
  23. If I had leave to post them, I would have already. I tend to do that a bit where possible. I'll ask him when he gets back from Del Monte
  24. I've a batch of photos taken of a derailment - really good slides so no messing on the colour rendition - and it shows MK3 coaches in a rake, some in Supertrain, some in Tippex Livery, and there is no difference in the colour between the two. It's quite possibly the same colour, some inchicore home brew mix even. It's going to be hard to please everyone on that score methinks.
