  1. My attempt at photographing the blue on 53M (seen here) and the underframe of 13M, the body of which was scrapped by the RPSI - both are at Downpatrick, but I'd certainly recommend seeing them in person. I haven't noticed any brown on them or 25M, now, I must look out for that
  2. Belmond run their Royal Scotsman thing with only one observation coach, so you're stuck looking at the GM for half the journey probably. Wonder if we'll get verandah and all like the Scottish one...

  4. Was it only Ds (2 or 3 of them) that worked as station pilots around Heuston that got black and tan? Was it the same sort of idea with Es?

  6. DH3 was the only one to carry white, if that helps. The three were moved to Carrick-on-Suir by the ITG, but 2 and 3 were sold to Holcim for use in Sri Lanka (5' 6") and DH1 was purchased by Beaver Power, Merther Tydfil, Wales, for spares for the other 2, and is still there

    Thanks very much JB, again, very useful Was it built like it is now with the corridor leading to a saloon, or was it rebuilt like that when used as an ambulance coach? Speaking of which, when did it become an ambulance coach?

    Thanks very much, all, very useful information Weren't coaches of similar sizes as 1097 (at the time), such as 1142, built for the Rosslaire express? If so, would 1097 have carried what would be, "GSR," brown and cream? If so, would this have been similar to the livery 836 used to have - like vermillion and yellow lining? I have a feeling that the brown in GSR brown and cream was a good bit lighter, but would that have been a much later (1930s) feature?
  19. Hello all - I apologise in advance about my quires on here, I'll try to ensure that this'll be the last for a while! A querey that's been bothering me for a while is the build date of GSWR 1097, the composite on the running set at Downpatrick. Some sources say 1923, others say 1925 - which one is it? And if it were the latter, then would it not be a GSR vehicle to a GSWR design? If so, would it have still carried GSWR lettering? I hope this doesn't ruin the chances of having a nice, protoypical, GSWR-liveried set at DP!

    Hello all Out of interest, is anyone aware of any information on the whereabouts of 84M? I had thought that it was at the Clifton Station House Hotel thing-place (http://www.clifdenstationhouse.com/?gclid=Cj0KEQiAgMKmBRDMjo_F9OfUubABEiQAp8Ky1wRcP75PJn0zh0JiQxd4YltVq6tZ9cWg1vHBPK5uo_oaAtlZ8P8HAQ) but you can't see it on google maps or anything Speaking of which, anyone aware of any brief history about it? I imagine it's one of Atock's standard 77 thirds built in Broadstone, withdrawn in 1964, and purchased by the GSRPS after it finished departamental service?
