Rails always deduct the UK Vat.
Postage can be a little higher than Hattons but the orders are securely packed & arrive by registered Royal Mail post.
When the parcel arrives in Dublin you are sent a card by An Post with details of the Vat to be paid.
Once the Vat is paid online the package is released for delivery.
Whether you are charged the An Post handling fee of €3-50 seems to be a bit hit & miss.
I'd say most of their stock was either returned to the manufacturer or else bought in bulk by another retailer as there was very little on sale in the first place after the closure was announced.
Question for anyone running one of these on DCC ?
I can switch on the headlights but I can't switch on the cab lights from my NCE Power Cab.
Anyone have this problem ?
I can switch the cab lights on & off with the wand but not from the handset ?
I got an SR Green one last week from Rails.
Ran it in on a rolling road, stuck a Rails connect decoder in it & put it on the layout.
It runs fine with no bogie problems that I have noticed.
Nice loco at a reasonable price.
That's very sad to hear.
If a company like Hattons can't continue then what hope have other smaller concerns.
Been in business a very long time.
I was purchasing from them back when they used brown paper & string.
I'd say Brexit has screwed them as it has a lot of other British companies.
Their website seems to be down at the minute ?
Sounds like a fellow whose wife told him to sell off some of his models as she needs a new sofa.
"I tried hun but no one would buy them"
I wish him luck, lots of it because at that price he's going to need it.
Used to be £17 but had increased the last time I looked.
Hattond had lots of stuff returned back to them over documentation problems. Probably AnPost again.
Brexit has really messed things up for modellers in Ireland.
