Used to be £17 but had increased the last time I looked. Hattond had lots of stuff returned back to them over documentation problems. Probably AnPost again. Brexit has really messed things up for modellers in Ireland.

Is it still £23 with DHL ?
  4. UPS have always been like that, Brexit or not. I avoid them like the plague but got caught this time because Locomotion didn't say they were using them.
  5. Heads up to anyone ordering anything from locomotion Models. When I ordered a loco I paid £20 Delivery only to be charged a further €20 by courier UPS as brokerage fees ?. This brought the Total Carriage price to over £37.50 which is excessive by some margin. If I had known they were using UPS I wouldn't have ordered the item at all. Further I will be ordering no further items from Locomotion Models as long as they continue to use UPS which is a complete rip off. I would find it very surprising that they don't know the type of charges customers face by using UPS & I find it very disappointing that they don't inform their customers that they are using UPS as their couriers. Been caught once but won't get caught again. I did send them an email complaining but didn't get an answer. No surprise there I suppose

How does the Vat work with DHL as its a while since I used DHL & can't remember the arrangement the last time I used them ?

I used DHL for one order & it cost £17. However the DHL price has now gone up to £23 I normally just use Royal Mail signed for & when I get charged the Vat again by AnPost Hattons refund it straight away.

Bloody jobsworth. There always has to be one doesn't there It works fine as long as the value is €150 or less. Over that & you get charged the VAT again even though you have already paid it. However Hattons are very quick to refund the Vat you paid them.

Royal Mail are all over the place. Royal Mail tracking says my package from Hattons is in Milton Keynes. Well news flash to Royal Mail. The package is on my kitchen table in South Kerry
  10. Welcome to the club. I seem to have about 150 too many

Sorry but I've only ever contacted them on Twitter.
  13. Human error it would seem. The station master of Larissa has been arrested & charged. There's a piece on it here. https://www.rte.ie/news/europe/2023/0301/1359527-greece-train/

Have you contacted An Post. They're usually very quick to reply if you contact them on Twitter.
  15. I used DHL from Hattons & it arrived in two days. I also used Royal Mail from Hattons at the same time & it took two months
  16. I think they're accepting international packages again. I got a signed for package from Hatton's yesterday. Only took 2 months
  17. I took the DHL option for another larger package & had it in two days which was great. Up to now I have always found that Royal Mail were pretty good with the signed for stuff & most of the problems I had were with An Post.
  18. That might still arrive ? Hattons sent me a package on Dec 5th which was never seen again. Claim gone in for compensation now.
  19. I presume you took a spin on the Schwebebahn suspension monorail (dingle dangle railway)
  20. They really are a disaster Makes An Post seem world class.
  21. I have both Tortoise & Dcc Concepts Ip digital on my layout. They both work fine without any problem. I have about 50 points motors. Dcc Concepts & Tortoise point motors come in a few different varieties depending whether you are controlling them in DC or DCC. If you're just going to control them with DC then the Dcc Concept COBALT IP ANALOG will possibly work out cheaper. Here are a couple of links from Coastal Dcc showing the different kinds of motor & the price. I have no connection with this company but have found them brilliant to deal with. Just scroll down through the pages. https://www.coastaldcc.co.uk/products/circuitron/ https://www.coastaldcc.co.uk/products/dccconcepts/point-motors/
  22. Happy Christmas everyone. Hope you get everything you wished for
  23. Remember Bob Symes programs well. Had the pleasure of meeting him at a rail festival in Budapest back in the early 2000's. A lovely man to talk to & a real gent. RIP.
  24. It varies. If you're charged vat by Irish customs just send an email to Hattons with a copy of the receipt & they will refund you the vat they charged straight away. I've always found Hattons very reliable & have been using them for years.
