It might be worth contacting the Model Railway Society of Ireland.  The society built and exhibited a OO Gauge model of Drogheda which included the station and viaduct which was one of the clubs principal exhibition layouts during late late 80s/90s. Its possible that some of the buildings and structures may exist.

There are photo of the viaduct on the section on the Dundalk Work's Layout https://www.modelrailways.ie/layouts/dundalk-works

Very little remains of the old Drogheda layout, time has moved on in both skills and available materials

Dundalk will be on display at the October Show, along with another Dundalk based layout

Sometimes they will post a recording of the event - if they do, I'll stick it up here.

That one good thing to come out of Covid lockdowns - the IRRS started holding these Zoom meetings. I am a member, and never made it to a single meeting in Heuston for any of the slideshow/talks, so it has been great being able to tune in to the online meetings!

Best option given they open from 18.30 - 21.00 only these days

And yet all you could type was this ?

They will be produced per Hattons closing down letter but how and by whom will they be delivered is not known, so don’t bother reading the entire thread

Thanks Mammy, can you tidy my room and make me some food while you are at it please?

I think it's usually around autumn when Silver Fox do runs of Irish stock. I think that the last run of Mk3 DVT's was late 2019 or late 2020.

Get in touch with Silver Fox Models and ask if they plan doing them soon. If they say no, unless a minimum quantity is met, put me down for two!

Keep an eye on Adverts.ie. Gerry Hoey / Millipede had one for sale relatively recently.

They pop up on eBay from time to time, sometimes at stupid prices but sometimes at fair prices.

DC Kits either do or used to do them in kit form.

And the Murphys one will be along soon, the one on adverts cant really be described as a 'model'

Correct. She had to be hauled over the viaduct at 5 mph with a line of empty 4 wheel wagons between her and the loco hauling her. She wouldn’t be allowed on this viaduct with a train behind her.

Your position in malahide has proved almost anything is possible

I wonder how 134's getting on...

Its the least of the rpsi's problems right now. Enough vanity projects clogging up the propaganda machine when theres holes the size of planets in the finances

Anyway 'diesel locomotives' are the devils work according to the elders of the rpsi. They were never used to haul sunday school outings on the derry road

I personally don’t think so, but Gerry’s Hoeys stuff is by far the next best thing. Sure certainly some of the locos don’t look as they should but just from a quick look at his adverts page. An NIR C clas for 100, a G class at 30 quid. Irish cement for 25 a wagon. Bulleid wagons for 20 ect.

Reminds me of the vodafone ad on the telly with the girl playing the violin - 'that was erm, wonderful'

So what is so terrible about Murphy Models and ESU decoders? It's been mentioned a few times that they have terrible driving characteristics, poor lighting options etc. I think that members use the word "vanilla" to describe them.

From what I have seen, and from @murphaph's cracking video, they don't seem terrible to me.

Typical internet, 1 person says its no good/best thing ever and its suddenly gospel. Up to the individual, don't be swayed

Great to see the Volvo F88 in CIE / IR livery!

Were there ever any 1981 Dodge C38's in Ireland?

1981, technically not seventies, but close enough.

I have one or two cabs that have been retired, and am wondering what may become of them:

    https://cochesdemetal.es/1981-camion-dodge-c38t-trailer-leche-pascual-amarillo-blanco-azul-143-salvat-peg009

Dodge C38 was Spanish built, a few made it to the UK, but not here. Too much market opposition

Plenty of Dodge Commandos and 100's here (UK Built) along with the smaller 50 series trucks back in the day, a few preserved Commandos and 100's too. Matchbox made them both in close to 1/76 scale, can be used for layouts

Looking at dismantling these two plastic Oxford DAF 2800's.

They look like mainly plastic construction, possibly glued together, on a diecast chassis.

Trying to figure out if the whole cab is one piece of clear plastic, painted where required, as the wipers appear moulded to both the body and to the windscreen.

The lower grille with the headlights, and the roof, appear to be distinct pieces, glued in place.

    Has anybody tackled these before?

    IMG_20230718_1934419.jpg

Correct, plastic upper, diecast lower. Bit of careful masking will protect the door/rear cab badging too

  13. Was wondering where it was myself.....

    Is the LUAS 1435mm gauge?

Yes, mainly as the trams were available off the shelf as standard gauge items
