DJ Dangerous Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 (edited) Never heard of this brand before but came across them today. Wondering if anybody knows anything about them. Just out of curiosity, I'm not looking to buy one or anything! https://www.hattons.co.uk/820902/golden_age_models_ga_60010_po_class_a4_4_6_2_60010_dominion_of_canada_pre_owned_dcc_sound_fitted_right_hand/stockdetail http://www.goldenagemodels.net/phone/lner-locomotives-a4-class-oo-gauge.html https://m.facebook.com/goldenagemodels Edited June 17, 2022 by DJ Dangerous Quote
connollystn Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 Think I heard of them in the past. If my memory serves me well they produced the Brighton Belle set in brass many years ago and was half tempted to get it. Think Rails of Sheffield had them for sale at a heavily discounted price but, other than that, didn't come across them since. 1 Quote
Galteemore Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 They are also one of the key names in high end 7mm scale -models - along with L H Loveless, Lee Marsh etc. 1 Quote
DJ Dangerous Posted June 18, 2022 Author Posted June 18, 2022 The models must be / have been incredibly high fidelity, based on their OO Gauge pricing. A shame that there seems to have been some sort of legal issue the last couple of years. From their FB page, it appears that a former partner / employee has branched off to do the same thing himself, with a new partner, under a different name. 1 Quote
Darius43 Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 The company effectively folded a couple of years ago, but has recently been resurrected by others to produce high end O Gauge models. Full saga here I have some of their OO Gauge LNER Coronation coaches. Very nice but they need very large radius curves or major fettling to run smoothly. Being all metal, they are also very heavy so need a seriously powerful loco to drag them around. Display Cabinet material really. Cheers Darius 1 1 Quote
BosKonay Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 They were some of the finest options back when the alternative was relatively poor fidelity RTR. In this day and age they’ve really been superceded by the likes of accurascale. Quote
