gm171 kk Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Another great video from Metrovick depicting 215 on an IWT liner consisting of the odd formation of ten CPWs and two 45ft flats.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOgNzgHCDtY&feature=em-uploademail Quote
BosKonay Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Curious, looks like the tankers went on the flats.... issues with putting the tanks in the pockets? Quote
WRENNEIRE Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Dont think so I have seen pocketed tankers on the IWT Quote
gm171 kk Posted December 11, 2012 Author Posted December 11, 2012 Curious, looks like the tankers went on the flats.... issues with putting the tanks in the pockets? Possibly, but there are tanks in some of the pockets also. I also thought that inter-modal trains in Ireland always consisted of eighteen wagons as this is what IÉ consider a viable train load? Quote
snapper Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Freight trains generally comprise of wagons that add up to 36 TEU (Twenty foot equivalent units). Pocket wagons and 62.9 foot bogies are considered 3 TEU, all other bogie freight liners are 2 TEU and 4 wheelers are considered 1 TEU. You could have any combination of the above. My understanding of the pocket wagon brakes is that they are air braked and vacuum piped meaning only the air acts on the brakes and the vacuum is just piped straight through so vacuum stock would always be at the rear of the train. bsmodelmaker ireland Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 sorry the pics are not great hear is a 414 and 201 class loco with a pocket wagon on a concrete bridge part of my layout Quote
thewanderer Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 It looks like there was a shortage of CPW's. The CPW rake was normally 12 wagons. In this video there is only 10 wagons so it looks like the two LP's were added to bring it up to 12 wagons. Quote
