I had an FSO - like a Lada, but with a different front and rear - and discs all round - lovely car, but it just fell apart eventually. Different gearbox to a Lada - it was a column-change box, but with a floor mounted lever - quite slick, really - except when the rod broke and left me with only third and fourth for 200 miles - got there, though. Never had a window problem - very low-geared though, about ten turns top-to-bottom. And the 'unofficial' hand-throttle. Broithe Posted January 17, 2013 Author Share Posted January 17, 2013 Friend of mine had a Wartburg - very exciting - three-cylinder two-stroke and a free-wheel, so no engine-breaking - take your foot off the throttle and it just goes silent and carries on going....
