Grounded van body

Here is an image of a grounded van body that I captured in July. It is located in the Drumcullen GAA grounds in Rath, Co. Offaly and is not visible from the road.

Such a shame seeing it being used as a shed in such bad condition.

I would suggest it is more authentic than much of what is appearing there!

Unfortunately, a lot of grounded rolling stock body owners in this country have unrealistic expectations of how much their treasures are worth!

So long as the metalwork is sound the plywood can always be replaced.

I saw a great one down in Blacksod on the Mullet peninsula, about twenty years ago. It was possibly the remotest point from the nearest railway, that I'd ever seen a H van. Alas, even if we discovered one kept under cover, we have no underframe or wheel sets left.
