Garfield Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I remember seeing some 121 drawings back in the dayIt showed 2 versions of the 121 With and without the high roof This looks exactly like the lower roofed one Good find Gareth I have a copy of those drawings, Dave. They were the ones IÉ used to send out on request, but in recent years they seem to send out the painting diagrams instead. The loco in the video is the off-the-shelf GL8 design... GM modified the body specifically for the CIÉ version.
djkonore Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Here's another one (closer to the CIE version) This time without a driver! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0zh0xAhANo
heirflick Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 A distant cousin of an old friend. now thats a beauty! great find gareth..the high roof really looks good:tumbsup: not a bad one from you either connor!
djkonore Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 2 versions of the 121 With and without the high roof This looks exactly like the lower roofed one I don't think the difference is in the cab roof height. Looking at both videos, it's more likely the one loco has a higher hood than the other. There would'nt really be any benefit to making a cab with different roof heights I reckon. Look at the front of the hood and the distance between the top of the hood and where it joins the front skirt on both loco's.
