UP6936 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 this month's edition of railway modeller features a review of the Murphy models 071s. One small issue though, in the review poor 113 appears to have been forgotten, as the author mentions 'NIRs duo'. I'm tempted to be something of a nit pick and write in about it. However, its good to see the locos get a great review Quote
Tarabuses Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Yes, it is a very favourable review of the models. I presume they picked up the historical information elsewhere or else thought that 8113 was a different class of loco? Quote
Railer Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Or else the fact that 111 and 112 were ordered together and 113 was ordered later as a follow on option. Because 111 is now 8111 like 8113. Again depends on what source the reviewer used I suppose. Quote
Warbonnet Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 RM give everything an easy ride and only in recent years seem to be waking up to these new fangled diseaseals but still make the odd mistake. The Rail Express review was very positive as they tend to be vicious when it comes to reviews and have experts do the review. But sure Paddy did such a good job we were expecting nothing but positives! Quote
mpc84 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 June issue of Hornby Magazine also has a positive review, mentioning the years they came into service. All 3 NIR locos mentioned. 073; 078; 086; and 088 were the models received for review Quote

But sure Paddy did such a good job we were expecting nothing but positives! Simon Bendall at Rex has a big interest in Irish Railways and knows his stuff. Bachmann threatened the mag with legal action when the original class 37-4 was reviewed and Rex were spot on. Bachmann retooled the model and they now have a healthy relationship and Bachmann produce ltd edition 37's for the mag. In fairness the original class 37 was a shocker. Rail Express is a great mag for anyone interested in British Railways. They do an Irish section every month also. I have to say that the modelling section has become a bit overloaded with ads over the last few years. Still a good read though. Rich, Quote
