leslie10646 Posted June 26 Posted June 26 (edited) Not the usual Growler at Goring! In Real Time Trains it was simply a light engine, "on test". It was some engine which whirled round the corner, the driver reacting to Linda's waves! IMG_2576.MOV Wonderful to see an electric loco under the wires here - a first for me, anyway. Coming soon to Ireland? Edited June 26 by leslie10646 3 1
Mol_PMB Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Nice to see! The first batch of class 99s have arrived now too. It will be interesting to see how the two classes compare when in service. Whilst they both have capability to run away from the wires, it's either at lower power (on diesel) or for relatively short distances (on batteries). OK for yards and depots, and short non-electrified sections, but not ideal for long-distance heavy haul. On diesel, the Class 93 is broadly equivalent to a 181 class, perhaps better in short bursts using the batteries as well; the Class 99 is equivalent to an 071 class. Of course, they're mainly intended as electric locos so are a great deal more complicated for no initial benefit in Ireland, but it all depends where and how quickly the knitting goes up! 1

When I first read your Post I thought you were trying to flog off a 'recently un-boxed " Trix AL1 electric loco. https://www.vectis.co.uk/d049-lot-994495-trix-trains-2-rail-1128-bo-bo-br-blue-class-al1-overhead-electric 1
Flying Snail Posted June 27 Posted June 27 I have to confess that I too thought you were trying to flog a "newsed" model loco at first glance.... You'd definitely get more than £250 for that loco ... although there's a limited market for 1:1 scale on here though 1
Mol_PMB Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Squint a bit, replace that upper orange band with a white one, delete the letters and edit the orange ring in the Beacon logo, and it could look quite Irish 2
DJ Dangerous Posted June 27 Posted June 27 And luckily, Revolution plan both the Class 93 and the Class 99 in OO Gauge! 1
