I have read of people getting car stripe tape in Halfords and using that but I have never tried it myself. If you search on the net for 'making a model train control panel' you will probably find some suggestions there.

You can get black Dymo tape from a lot of stationers and just stick it on without printing..

..or, maybe it might even be helpful to indicate routes by printing..?

..I think it comes in 9 and 12 mm widths..

Well when you do get it plugged it in, put it in the Calendar as "First Annual IRM Meeting" and I'm sure I can find a few to come inspect to H&S criteria of the fridge! BYOB I assume?

Have to wait till I get my layout started, I'm planning on a 12' x 5' layout that is suspended from the workshop roof and winch it down when I want to use it.

Wow, that's a nice layout. I will just use a hand winch as an electric winch is very expensive.

They do have a reasonably-priced electric winch in Lidl, now and then....

..also available without the swing-arm - for around €50/60.

jaysus broithe, that's going too far altogether. buy a parkside winch, hoist your layout to the ceiling, and you'd have a nice little heart attack around four in the morning when a couple hundred weight of mdf comes crashing to the ground. The cheapest, and worst engineered tools ever. R.
