  1. Welcome back Anto. Ballykay is looking well, and some stunning weathering!
  2. As far as I know the 111s have always been serviced in York Road.
  3. I wonder whether the train will still go to York Road for cleaning between services, or whether they'll just get cleaned at GVS, like they do at Connolly? It would be strange seeing the enterprise passing through Central without stopping!
  4. Ooohhh! The mk4s sound good! And no, it wasn't 230. 230 has grey panels below the lights like a couple of the other 201s did before they got taken out of service.
  5. Up until relatively recently there was an abandoned cie container in belmullet, dunno if anyone remembers it?
  6. Southern yard, I never actually saw the FO Dublin train arrive or depart in ballina, I only ever saw it stabled there. Was there not a huge overhang with such a small platform?! If you have any pics of it in ballina, especially the mk3s, I'd love to see them apologies if I'm going off on a tangent here!!!!
  7. Superb pictures. More please!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Nice pic! Do you know have the DDs ever been down that way before?
  9. This is superb thread Dave, and I don't show my appreciation enough! I have 220, 177, 112, a murphy models galway EGV, and a Lima set of Galways given to me by you!
  10. Yeah, I find the height difference pretty annoying even with standard coupling! Looks like a nightmare with the kadees!
  11. Hey! I think it really depends on the running speed of your layout. I didn't bother with anything, as my layout is an 8 x 4 terminus to fiddle yard, which means my trains won't really be running very fast. However, I would definitely recommend putting something down if you're going to be running the trains at a reasonable speed, as no matter how quiet the locos are, the rolling stock tends to make quite a lot of noise if going fast! Any chance of getting some info on the layout on the layout page?
  12. Where did they shunt the liner? Barrack street?
  13. Yeah, I remember this Guinness liner from belfast often being particularly short, often just 4 or 5 if the short wagons.
  14. Lovely model, but regarding Facebook, speak for yourself I think this little gem of a forum is doing fine!
  15. Cheers Seamus!
  16. It just seems like CIE have no ambitions with regards to future freight flows when they might need more locos. Another thing I've wondered is why they crapped the 201s instead of some of the 071s? Obviously it's an advantage to us enthusiasts, but surely it would make more sense to scrap some of the 071s, an older loco?
  17. You'd think they could have saved a few of the non push-pulls 201s and designated them to freight and maybe a couple of RPSI specials!
  18. Oh just noticed that was Wiggy's!
  19. Well there two were rakes of flats and then one rake of pockets in the crossmolina siding. So hopefully one of the rakes of flats were for the DFDS
  20. Yes, unless the loco was at the other end of the pockets, close to the Belmullet Road in the Crossmolina siding, which I'd doubt, never saw a loco there. And by the DFDS flats do you mean the pockets? I thought the pockets were used of the DFDS and the flats were used on the IWT?
  21. Couple of pics from ballina on the 29th where all was quiet. 219 and 077 were sitting dead at the head of two empty rakes of flats, a rake of empty pocket wagons in the crossmolina siding, and a 2800 with the Manulla shuttle.
