I have a couple of John Dewing prints but not the negatives which possibly do not now exist as in the his later life he cut up various negatives or threw them out. As I do not have copyright I will not upload them to flickr and as far as I am aware they have not appeared anyway in the media etc. before. The first one is dated 14 Sept 1936 with No 3s on a train leaving Skibbereen. The sceond one is of No. 4s just outside Skibbereen station 9 April 1940. Does anyone know if the negatives are still extant and who has them.

Fingers crossed for you!! Brings back memories from the 1980's which is a bit worrying because I can't remember much from last week!

There is a pipe sticking up with a knob on the end, on the inside of the tank on the third photo which corresponds with the pipe on the loco on the first photograph and its also the same number 2. The loco in the shed at Tuam nearest the camera has the pipe/ in a different position and is missing its cab plus I think the plates and number are in a lower position on the tank side. Casserley noted they were 1 and 3 so probably 1.

I have found another negative but don't know the location , I think its probably at Thurles Beet Factory.

I have quite a few Hill of Howth negs to upload. A bit of a niche subject for modellers, I think I can remember a tram or trams on the old Cyril Fry layout. Pity the tramway didn't have a steam worked goods service like Fintona but it would have been uneconomic partly because of the short distance from Howth and Sutton stations but also the steep gradients on the line would have been impractical for a steam worked service.. Here are 3 views I will upload the rest today so if you want to see these just go on the flickr photostream. Yes its Lough Melvin on the cattle train . Its the one on the right in the distance which the photographer stated was Lough Gill but David has pointed out it can't be as it was at Dundalk.
