  1. Yes its more Central Junction than Adelaide, Dewing recorded it as Adelaide. I wonder what that official looking Board on the right said?

  3. I'm not sure if these are Bulleid LB flats but a bit of variety on this CCR Trip, Tractor ,Van and car. No doubt the LB's would have seen the same variety.
  4. A bit of a disaster this week; the Royal Mail managed to mangle a letter containing some CDRJC negatives, JG Dewing slides probably duplicates but there could have been the odd original and also some UK NER area infrastructure slides. Luckily the CDRJC envelope made it but the rest have been lost somewhere on their 300 mile journey. Here are 2 of the CDRJC negatives, Doorin Road Halt 15 August 1959 and Castlefin probably same date with a Strabane bound Railcars 10 and either 19 or 20 (Edited ID'd as 20) hauling 3 coaches and a van. Railcar 10 being checked over by the Driver. Lastly NIR 112 stabled at Limerick Junction early 2000's
  5. Built in 1937 by Met Vickers & Met Cammell C&W as a joint venture under licernce from Hungarian Co Ganz. Initially tested on LMS between Euston & Tring, further tested in the North East (probably where the LNER ref comes from. No orders for production vehicles came from this and it appears to have spent WWII in the Metro Cammell, Birmingham Works. Later it was re-gauged and sold to the UTA in 1951. Double ended and (initially at any rate) 36 3rd Class and 18 First Class seats. Info from W Scott's Locos of the LMS NCC tome.

  11. 3 views of SG3 UTA 35 ascending Aghadavoyle Bank 31 May 1963 with JG Dewing on the footplate. There are quite a few more of this trip and another trip on a Class W still to be uploaded.
  12. Omagh 7 June 1957, 122 + railcar 604 and then 122 on its train. Limerick Junction probably 2003, 084 on the Down main line so this would be when the Beet trains were being diverted via Kildare because of the Cahir accident.
  13. Various 071 class locos at Ballina CA 2000 + . 3 views and a Bus er Coach.
  14. If you look in Fermanagh's Railways by Friel & Johnston there are several photos of both stations and sketch track plans. The sidings at Irvinestown were on the north side of the line and like a mirror image of those at Kesh. Kesh didn't have a passing loop. It could be that the train is in the long siding at Irvinestown rather than on the running line though, possibly picking up the cattle wagon that appears. The more I look at it the more I think you are right" Changing it back to Irvinestown! Good spot, thanks!
  15. Alighting at Fintona Junction for a quick gallop er trot to Fintona today. The station interior is 25 September 1953. The others 7 June 1957.
  16. GNRI Fintona Junction 149 7 June 1957. SLNCR Coach 9, Enniskillen 8 June 1957. The last 2 date from the early 2000's, DART's 8601 at Tara Street & 8328 unknown location might be Fairview?
  17. This one might be of assistance; uploaded today. The sleeper spacing on the goods siding is interesting particularly towards the end!
  18. Irvinestown re EDITED) & Bundoran Junction today, 8 June 1957 with Loco 50. 5 views because I uploaded them to flickr in the wrong order! First one is 50 said to be at Irvinestown but I'm pretty sure this is Kesh so I am amending the Title. No 50 has now arrived at Bundoran Junction. First view is of the train drawing out of the Bundoran branch platform. Second & third are the train after reversal into the Enniskillen platform and the fourth the loco reversing into the Omagh platform probably propelling a van off its train onto a train for Omagh. This appears to have been a regular ocurrence.
  19. No 50 has now arrived at Pettigo 8 June 1957. The next view of the train is at Irvinestown, No 50 now apparently has a cattle wagon in the consist, it may be that the date recorded in the index or the location is wrong . EDIT Location is correct. Finally a couple of views at Portrush, no date.
  20. Back to the Bundoran branch, a last view at Ballyshannon of No 50, before we move on to Belleek 8 June 1957. The Driver patiently again awaiting the photographer re-boarding the train, whilst the rest of the train crew have a 'chat', possibly discussing job options with less than 4 months to closure on 1 October 1957.
  21. Another view of Ballyshannon 8 June 1957 before we do a brief side trip to Courtmacsherry 29 August 1960. finishing with a view of Timoleague village same date. We shall return to Ballyshannon etc next time.
  22. OK we will start on our journey from Bundoran to Bundoran Junction and points east/north. The following are by 3 different photographers, LG Marshall, WAC Smith and Nick Nicholson. Bundoran U class 200 July 1955 LGM. Ballyshannon, 74 10.30 am Bundoran - Enniskillen WACS 3 April 1956. Ballyshannon 50 NN 8 June 1957.
  23. County Donegal Railways today. Raphoe Railcar 14 12 May 1959. 2 views of Ballyshannon 8 June 1957.
