  7. I spoke with John Gunn this afternoon He was the only Marklin agent in Dublin in the 80's The agency is long gone but the shop remains Most Friday mornings some of hos older customers meet there and reminisce about clockwork, 3 rail, live steam etc There was no other camera shop on Wexford street, indeed no shop called Duff's as long as he has been there
  8. The sad fact is that 11, bar McGeady, are probably the best players in their positions that we can field They tried their best and that is all we can ask I thought Dunne and Andrews really excelled Its a sad state of affairs when my biding memory of the Euros will be the fans singing the team off after a good hammering! You'll never beat the Irish (FANS)
  9. Can anyone tell me why McGeedy is in that team? What was he supposed to be doing? Bleedin waster, never so dissapointed in a green jerseyed man
  10. Well done Shem They look the dogs smelly bits.
  11. Hope to be trading at the next Bray Wheelers event I have bought Des McGlynns Irish stock and as he will not be attending as a trader I will be taking his pitch I now have a serious amount of stock, and in particular MM new 201's so drop over to the event next month Any member of the forum who introduces himself will get a once off IRM discount!
  12. Born to Ride, eh? If only I could turn back the clock
  13. I think I was on about £60 a week in 78 So roughly 13.5% of my wage So I reckon the value has doubled in real terms in 35 years Not the best investment in the world but at least it hasnt lost any value! And remember this is based on a mint in box example, not many around.
  14. All depends Mint boxed can make up to €75 Played with and loved can make €20 Then theres everything in between I have a couple that came from a chap who bought them new in 1978, priceless!!!
  15. John Gunn on Wexford St was the Marklin agent at one stage I know a few gents still meet there on the odd Friday for a chat Some serious railway buffs who collect everything from N to Gauge I, with one of them having an outdoor Gauge I layout running only older coarse scale stock such as Marklin, Bing Carette etc
  16. Not great Conor but the only one I can find at the moment
  17. I remember in 1987 when Stephen Roche won, a british commentator came out with a classic "An English speaking winner of the Tour De France at last" Classic
  18. A man and a woman, who have never met before, find themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on an overnight train Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, the two are tired and fall asleep quickly - he in the upper bunk and she in the lower. At 1:00 AM, he leans over and gently wakes the woman saying, "Ma'am, I'm sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into the wardrobe to get me a second blanket,I'm awfully cold?." "I have a better idea," she replies. "Just for tonight, let's pretend that we're married." "Wow! That's a great idea!!" he exclaims. "Good," she replies. "Get your own damn blanket!" After a moment of silence, he farted. A passenger train is creeping along, slowly. Finally it creaks to a halt. A passenger sees a conductor walking by outside. "What's going on?" he yells out the window. "Cow on the track!" replies the conductor. Ten minutes later, the train resumes its slow pace. Within five minutes, however, it stops again. The man sees the same conductor walk again. He leans out the window and yells, "What happened? "Did we catch up with the cow again?"

I thought it was only the motor and bogies that was to be used in the Sulzer? The new Railroad motors are fitted with a sealed long life 5 pole motor, and are DCC ready
