  1. Looking good, Dave. Really enjoyed my closer look at Hazelwood!
  2. As you can probably appreciate, it's been a insanely busy period for us Irish Railway Models folk. So much so that I hadn't actually got to play with my own set of ballasts and give them a run! I managed to rectify that a little when i paid a visit to my good friend Bren to have the craic as always and was able to give them a good long run. Apologies for the bang average video but I thought I'd capture a bit of the fun! [video=youtube;5d6-S2qkpSA] Remember, you can still order packs of ballasts online and we will have some at the October show for sale too! http://www.irishrailwaymodels.com/shop
  3. Excellent advice Noel and I would agree with all pointers. I'm about to put up a video which flies in the face of a lot of the advice above but conditions were somewhat against me, being on a step!
  4. Thanks for the kind words one and all! We cant wait to see them on some cracking layouts like we have done with the ballasts recently. Who will be first to weather them heavily I wonder?
  5. Hi everyone, I'm pleased to announce that we can finally bring you an update regarding the Irish Railway Models Cement Bubble! As previously stated, production of this iconic wagon is now underway at our factory in China. Since we took over full control of producing the wagons ourselves, we had aimed to have these on your layouts and in your collections by the end of summer. However, the more we looked at the pre-production tooling sample, the more we were unhappy with the first rendition of the model. Changes we had requested with our previous agent were not implemented and as a result, there were a number of errors that we found unacceptable. It was our goal to make the definitive version of the most iconic wagon on Irish rails, so we took the tough decision to junk a lot of the tooling and retool a number of parts of the wagon. This was expensive, but we felt it was necessary, despite the expense. As a result, the hatch lid, the underframe detail below the tank and the tank itself have been retooled and corrected. The walkways and ladders are now etched nickel silver and as a result are not only much more sturdy, but finer too. Taking on feedback from customers and magazine reviews, we have also reduced the thickness of the W irons on the chassis to create a more prototypical appearance. Below are some pics of the results in our deco sample. We hope you like it and agree that the changes are worthwhile. The arrival of the bubbles will coincide with the October show, which will involve flying them in from China. We apologise for the delay, but we hope you understand the circumstances behind this decision. (Also, please excuse the quality of photography, I need to work on my lighting and other areas more! )
  6. Think I'll have to treat myself to a set!
  7. Thought there would be more intrigue into the comment I made in the opening post about a new product announcement being made by ourselves at the show. We will have a preproduction sample to show over the weekend at the show all going well and it will be the first place to see it. What will it be? Come by our stand over the bank holiday weekend to find out!
  8. How the hell did you find out what we're planning!?!?
  9. I'm afraid you strike out this time, Noel!
  10. Thanks men! Keep an eye out for further updates in the coming weeks!
  11. Things are progressing swiftly here at IRM Towers, with the ballast wagons selling well, the bubbles in production and now we can confirm that the Tara Mines wagon has entered the tooling stage. The Tara Mines project has been going on quietly in the background, but is still on course for delivery this winter. Keep an eye out for news, ordering information, prices and livery options in the coming weeks. As you can see from the CAD shot of the underframe detail above, it will be well worth the wait! The devil is in the detail as they say.
  12. Absolutely incredible modelling Popeye!
  13. As far as I know they do recycle them Rich! It does indeed Gareth. No more Kinder Eggs, turned sweeping brush handles, self assembly, incorrect Dapol chassis and castings varying in quality. The detail underneath alone is something to behold.
  14. NEWS JUST IN FROM CHINA... The picture above might look like a heap of waste plastic and nickel silver in a box. However, it shows a number of sprues from a single Irish Railway Models cement bubble wagon! As you can tell, production is in full swing. Expect more pictures as well as information on delivery and further insights into the process to produce the bubbles in the coming days. Our bubbles are accurately proportioned and run beautifully on a fully accurate Irish chassis with unbeatable detail. They are crisply rendered in injection molded plastic and feature exquisite decoration. And they come fully assembled and fully painted ready-to-run for you to enjoy straight out of the box! The days of compromise and 'making do' are at an end. Order today http://www.irishrailwaymodels.com/shop
  15. Just had a chat with one of the South Dublin lads, the list is still being finalised and should be published in the next week or so.
  16. I have yet to see one tbh. All I know is that Irish Railway Models will be there
  17. The main Dublin show is just over a month away! The South Dublin Model Railway Club show at Blackrock College, Dublin, October 28th - 30th. Irish Railway Models will be there of course and we will have ballast wagons and bubbles for sale as well as info in the Tara's. It looks like we might even have a new product announcement thrown in for good measure too all going well! Make sure you drop by and say hi!
  18. I stuck up on Facebook too and someone responded saying it was a heavily modified FS model. Lovely bit of scratch building!
  19. Was going through some old magazines and came across this in the March 1976 edition of 'Model Railway Constructor'. It is Lima's proposed A Class model, which looks a lot more A class than what was eventually released. It seems to be a hand built body at least, any idea of its origins, Dave? HO scale too...
  20. Message received and understood!
  21. You'd want DCC sound for that outlay. End of the day it's just a phone. Never get the excitement round this stuff tbh. Only 1% are ever going push its functionality. Most just want a phone, decent storage, a good camera and a way to browse the internet.
  22. It's the brightness of the light shining on the roof. It looks the correct factory colour to me.
  23. nothing received as of yet! you can also email it to fran@irishrailwaymodels.com Cheers!
  24. Actually we're just getting some of the last remaining stock together for Sunday. Grab them while you can folks, because we wont be doing a repeat run any time soon and we are getting down to the bare bones.
  25. Irish Railway Models will also be there of course with some of our remaining stock of packs A, B and C of our ballast wagons. We will also be able to take pre-orders on bubbles and chat about future projects so drop by and say hello
