We were delighted to get a guided tour of the South Dublin Model Railway Club rooms last night before presenting them with a pack of our ballast wagons as a special thank you for the massive help the club gave us when we first started. It was a thrill to see special layouts such as Adavoyle and Belturbet once again. I might be mistaken, but I believe that the silverfox NIR101 uses the old MIR mould.

Correct re the bogies. I'm pretty sure that Replica do a B5 bogie if it can be adapted to fit the Hornby coach.

Correct Noel, some have used them to great effect. Also, beware the length of your Mark I for donors. Full brakes for instance are shorter than composites, corridor, buffets, half brakes etc.

Excellent insight, Eoin! It's hard to believe the amount of time and effort that needs to go into these projects. The same with our own. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes that when you're on the outside you simply wouldn't think about. The end result is always well worth the wait though as you have demonstrated over the years.

Cheers Noel, you can buy pretty much all the Brit mags as digital editions, certainly Rail Express. We will have reviews in all the major magazines including BRM, Model Rail, Railway Modeller and Hornby Magazine in the coming weeks. As for the bubbles, we're still on course for the end of August.

Erm, well if you felt the need to point out that you were not being flippant, then surely you do understand what I mean? It read as you being flippant which I found disappointing (as did a couple of forum members who pointed out the same.) I'm happy to see that it was a simple misunderstanding. Hi Delboy, The icon on the left allows you to post images. The one on the right allows you to post videos. The tool bar is at the top of the box where you type posts. Hope this helps

Hi Delboy. Welcome to the site! You can indeed load photos from your phone direct to the site. Are you using the app or your web browser? For video you have to use a host like YouTube. You simply copy the link the video from YouTube and paste it via the 'film' icon in the toolbar for typing responses.

Yeah, it pains me to admit it as I do love my Nikon for stills but Canon has the video bit licked in comparison. The 80D is a lovely bit of kit. Must send you on some links for some mics for your phone that I've been researching which will add with sound, esp. with sound locos. Thanks once again!

Weird Noel, I use a Canon 80D (with nice mics of course) in the day job and for me, they piddle all over any camera phone. Personally find colour vibrancy much better with DSLR than phones. As excellent as the camera on iphone 6 and equivalent Samsung is, they always seem to be very 'grey' in their video colour to me in comparison. I'm not dismissing phones at all. Have an iPhone 6 myself and it's very good. They're very handy for video on the fly and I have used them for this, but I do prefer my DSLRs. My basic Nikon D3200 does nice video too, but I do admit I've not done much with it video wise. Was thinking of buying a second D5200 the other week actually, might swerve it now. Anyway, very good video overall. Really delighted that you're happy with the wagons and thanks for the custom!

A's and C's had different exhaust arrangement, so as you say the sound was a lot different. GM built locos have GM exhaust arrangements so they do sound a lot more similar to each other. The A's and C's were exceptions of course. Anyway, we're wandering way off topic!
