  1. Irish Railway Models will be there with ballast wagon packs for sale and a sample of the cement bubble. Stop by and say hi!
  2. Correct re the bogies. I'm pretty sure that Replica do a B5 bogie if it can be adapted to fit the Hornby coach.
  3. Correct Noel, some have used them to great effect. Also, beware the length of your Mark I for donors. Full brakes for instance are shorter than composites, corridor, buffets, half brakes etc.
  4. Hi Kieran. Apologies in not getting back to your recent reply. I could go into why the delay has taken place but I'm sure you've no interest in hearing that. I will pm you later on the matter. However, if you decide to move on then that's your decision and I wish you all the best and thank you for your contributions over the years.
  5. Excellent insight, Eoin! It's hard to believe the amount of time and effort that needs to go into these projects. The same with our own. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes that when you're on the outside you simply wouldn't think about. The end result is always well worth the wait though as you have demonstrated over the years.
  6. Cheers Noel, you can buy pretty much all the Brit mags as digital editions, certainly Rail Express. We will have reviews in all the major magazines including BRM, Model Rail, Railway Modeller and Hornby Magazine in the coming weeks. As for the bubbles, we're still on course for the end of August.
  7. THE REVIEWS ARE IN!!!! The first review of our Ballast wagon has arrived in the form of the June 2017 edition of Rail Express magazine. We won't give too much away but we think that the two page spread makes for a great read! Make sure you pick up your copy as it has plenty of Irish content too! We still have some wagon packs left but they're shifting fast. Make sure you don't miss out and place your order on http://www.irishrailwaymodels.com today!
  8. Erm, well if you felt the need to point out that you were not being flippant, then surely you do understand what I mean? It read as you being flippant which I found disappointing (as did a couple of forum members who pointed out the same.) I'm happy to see that it was a simple misunderstanding. I would just urge all posters to think how words on a screen will be interpreted when read. Thanks.
  9. That's a disappointing attitude to take Kieran. I'm surprised at you tbh. It was a simple query.
  10. Great news Noel! One less project IRM would have to fund with a view to doing a high quality, RTR bells and whistles model from China!
  11. Hi Delboy, The icon on the left allows you to post images. The one on the right allows you to post videos. The tool bar is at the top of the box where you type posts. Hope this helps
  12. Hi Delboy. Welcome to the site! You can indeed load photos from your phone direct to the site. Are you using the app or your web browser? For video you have to use a host like YouTube. You simply copy the link the video from YouTube and paste it via the 'film' icon in the toolbar for typing responses.
  13. This just popped up on one of the Facebook groups, might be of interest
  14. Yeah, it pains me to admit it as I do love my Nikon for stills but Canon has the video bit licked in comparison. The 80D is a lovely bit of kit. Must send you on some links for some mics for your phone that I've been researching which will add with sound, esp. with sound locos. Thanks once again!
  15. Weird Noel, I use a Canon 80D (with nice mics of course) in the day job and for me, they piddle all over any camera phone. Personally find colour vibrancy much better with DSLR than phones. As excellent as the camera on iphone 6 and equivalent Samsung is, they always seem to be very 'grey' in their video colour to me in comparison. I'm not dismissing phones at all. Have an iPhone 6 myself and it's very good. They're very handy for video on the fly and I have used them for this, but I do prefer my DSLRs. My basic Nikon D3200 does nice video too, but I do admit I've not done much with it video wise. Was thinking of buying a second D5200 the other week actually, might swerve it now. Anyway, very good video overall. Really delighted that you're happy with the wagons and thanks for the custom!
  16. What DSLR and lens were you using Noel?
  17. Is that a hint, John??
  18. A different Dave Jones to the one once involved in the very early days of the project, I believe? Many thanks for your kind words Dave and your custom. We're delighted that you're happy with them!
  19. A's and C's had different exhaust arrangement, so as you say the sound was a lot different. GM built locos have GM exhaust arrangements so they do sound a lot more similar to each other. The A's and C's were exceptions of course. Anyway, we're wandering way off topic!
  20. Maybe you have a better ear than me, which wouldn't be hard since I'm half deaf from playing music excessively loud as a lad! As said earlier, it's down the the RPM. 645 has a bigger bore too of course, but I'm too deaf to notice the difference. Turbo'ed 567, 645 and 710 all sound different to me though.
  21. Is it down to the number of cylinders per engine? I know the tsunami just offered a '645' for instance, which is anything between an 8 and 20 cylinder block. Yank outline customers were asking for specific sound recordings for each one (8, 12, 16, 20 etc)
  22. Pack A available once again! We have been working tirelessly to dispatch pre-orders to our customers over the past couple of weeks, a herculean task in itself! There are still a limited number of packs B and C left to order with us. We also have freed up a limited amount of pack A thanks to swapping out for packs B and C with customers. You can order here: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/product/cie-ir-ie-two-axle-ballast-wagon-multi-pack/ Stock is running low so make sure you secure your order with us asap! Thanks to Noel Enright for letting us use one of his pictures of the ballasts on his wonderful Tara Junction layout!
  23. You'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between the rootes blown 645 and the 567 originally fitted. It's quite subtle.
