  1. I guess you could travel the entire network minus any purely high speed and freight only sections. You have 3 months to do it for €27 plus your accommodation costs.
  2. Yeah you can't use it on IC/EC/ICE trains, only regional and regional express and everything below that (commuter rail, metro, tram, bus) but it's a hell of an offer nonetheless! It's a one off to get people to use trains and buses during the holidays instead of their cars, to reduce dependency on Russian oil I guess.
  3. Wow. 7 million of these tickets have been sold so far for June already. People with monthly or annual passes don't even need to buy one, their local/regional tickets are valid nationwide and they will get a refund on the extra cost so they aren't out of pocket.
  4. Yeah it's mad to see some of the journeys people are planning from one end of the country to the other, effectively for free but generally taking very many hours and multiple changes. I am planning a trip to the Harz on a school day before the holidays start. Will set off early and get to Quedlinburg for 10.30 and spend the morning and afternoon travelling the system around to Wernigerode before heading home. Might take a spin to VW Autocity as well. That's reachable in 2.5 hours on regional trains from here. The obvious destination is the Baltic sea coast but that will be mobbed completely with Berliners as it's easily reachable for a day trip.
  5. It may be of interest to some. Germany is introducing a nationwide 9€ per month train/bus/tram ticket for the summer months. The ticket allows use of (almost) all regional and regional express trains in the entire country as well as all local public transport networks. Interestingly however it also includes several steam operated railways, such as the Mollibahn and the Harz Narrow Gauge system (except the ascent to the summit of the Brocken mountain): https://www.hsb-wr.de/Fahrplan-Tarife/Tarife/Fahrpreise/9-Euro-Ticket/ I will definitely be grabbing a ticket in each month and taking a spin somewhere. Trains will be packed on weekends however, so beware!
  6. A similarly clumsy driver seems to have caught this by now faded Bell container in the same way: A grubby old CIE box:
  7. No it's bought not built. I did modify it though. The fan it came with was stripped out (super loud thing) and a replacement manifold the same size as the fan body was made out of a piece of scrap wood and I plumbed it into my house's ventilation system so it runs silently and in fact more powerfully than with the fan in.
  8. Weathering those Merlinir trucks up and a couple of containers. Bit of learning more than anything else. Going to apply a coat of grime and then a final coat of varnish. Oil paint needs to dry first though.
  9. Those are probably the 1:76 after pics
  10. Fantastic weathering.
  11. I like it but it's too late for my chosen era. Wouldn't pay 280 for one either but the last one I saw on eBay went for closer to €350 and that was a UK seller so add on the charges.
  12. Reasonable price for one of these, these days: https://www.adverts.ie/toy-cars-trains-boats-planes/murphy-models-mm0071-071-class/26890316
  13. Interesting how the weight hugs the inside of the hopper like that.
  14. I think he means the powered lifeboats. Nice touch.
  15. I'd say the chances are really very good going by what IRM has released already. My perhaps naive assumption is that essentially everything will be gotten around to over time.
  16. When was the last mag scrapped?
  17. One or two from Copenhagen in there too George?
  18. Very first attempt at weathering anything. My son's Lima H0 stuff served as guinea pigs. I used Lifecolor acrylics. Just roof dirt and frame dirt shades, airbrushed on. I will give them a varnish and try some rust streaking effects too I think.
  19. Ok JP II, whatever you say man!
  20. PM was there too?
  21. Disinfectant chaser?
  22. I had thought about that external speaker solution too but I don't know, I can't imagine it working as well as on board sound to be honest. The way I imagined it working was a fade in/out at "strategic locations of interest" so you'd mount a speaker at every station, yard, level crossing, signal etc. and just fade the appropriate audio in as the train approaches the speaker position, then fade the sound out as it moves away. No cacophony of sound from all these speakers. The trains run silent through "open country". For the baby GMs you could just buy Loksounds rather than trying tos squeeze the Bluetooth boards inside. A hybrid solution. Cheapo boards where they fit, Loksounds where major surgery is required.
  23. The flats with loads or just the loads Fran?
  24. The cages may be available as a brass kit from SSM if you have no luck finding RTR ones. Des lists them anyway: http://www.studio-scale-models.com/Freight.shtml http://www.studio-scale-models.com/img/K50.jpg €42 for 6 cages.
  25. Great list @leslie10646the guy thinks you're not trading which we know to be incorrect. Maybe you would like to reach out to him and let him know.
