  1. Thanks for that info, I've been searching the net and books for the past few days trying to find that out. Same with the air brake hoses.
  2. Yes, all GM locos need the MU cable between them for multiple working, it's the same as the cable used for push pull mode. 121 and 135 were not modified for push pull working at all, well 121 was and then it was removed due to very high noise and revs from the loco when in push pull mode for some reason.
  3. The Enterprise DVT cabs were spec'ed to resemble the front profile of a 201 as close as possible so that's what they got.
  4. I never realised the 121s didn't have air brake hoses or multiple working MU sockets fitted until later on. I think the 141s had them when leaving Inchicore after delivery. I know nothing was air braked until the bogie bulk cement wagons came into service but still.
  5. That would be sweet, I always like to have the class leaders in the livery they were delivered in. A pack with a running number 071 in GM golden brown with 3 revamped supertain Mk2s for just under €400, it would be a great collectors item too.
  6. The fact that no other models besides the Cravens and 141/181s came from that factory. The 201s and Mk2s were made elsewhere together and that place is now gone kaput and the 071s from another factory. Why go back to the first place now? That's what I'm getting at. The hold up with the Mk2s being sorted and the 121s going into production was PM looking for another factory that was up to standard and were not at risk of going under.
  7. The thing is the 201 is made, the more liveries it's released in the more it sells and the more profit is made from the model overall. Interesting about Cravens 1509, I'm assuming a different factory will be making this Cravens so seeing how it stacks up against one of the finest ever RTR 00 scale models ever released will tell a tail. Again with the new Mk2s, they are not going to be just repaints, reading between the lines it could well be new tooling with a new mold fixing the window height. One can hope anyway.
  8. Still holding out hope for 216 in Belmond livery seeing as we are getting 8209 in the interm 2015 Enterprise livery. More Mk3s will be needed and alot of modifications.
  9. Yep, all the news and excitement was last week. http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/3285-Murphy-Models-121/page13 It's going to be a long wait.
  10. Every day of the week except Sundays, for years now. How else can they get from Mayo to Dublin and Waterford.
  11. Just looking at the vents on the sides below the walkways of the 121s, some have them and some don't.
  12. Expensive year 2016. Ballast hoppers, bubbles, Mk2s, 201s and 121s. Couldn't ask for more really.
  13. Just a case of not fitting the handrails to each side? A question about the 121s, I have looked at a few pictures of them in the grey livery and they have no air brake lines fitted, when did they get them and were the 141s delivered with air brake hoses fitted. Seeing as the 121s got air brakes fitted later in life why not the case for the A class seeing as they were around till the mid 90s.
  14. As far as I know no 201 has the finished Enterprise livery yet. As in none of them have the new Enterprise logo applied to them yet. Interesting to see what they come out like compared to some of the excellent resprays posted up here. As much as I can't wait for a 121 they have a very high bar to try and match. I just hope PM found a good factory this time that can match what came before.
  15. I don't even think there is a service demand for an hourly service. Right now the Enterprise reputation is at a low point like it was in the early 2000s with all the failures. On the flip side you have cheaper and faster bus services that run every hour between Dublin and Belfast. Irish rail and NIR need to get the line up to 120mph running the whole way, get faster rolling stock and better pathing around local services to bring times down below 90mins . It will never happen but it's what really needs to be done.
  16. The S was to show it was fitted with CAWS, locos without CAWS were speed restricted on some services. 071s without CAWS were not allowed to operated MK3s up to 90mph and were restricted to 75mph. A was for locos that had their air brakes commissioned. What's interesting in the photos of 073 is that it has no A yet it's working MK3 air brakes stock.
  17. No, in fact now only locos with the new electrical jumper socket installed at the no.2 cab end can work the new Enterprise stock. The locos also have to have the new MMI screens installed in the cab to work the stock too. Even though 227 and 231 have all the NIR gear installed they are not getting the new jumper outlet of MMI screen installed.
  18. It looks great on that model, it's very hard to do right. The livery on the real thing is still no finished as the Enterprise logo has yet to be applied to any of the locos so far. Also I believe 227 and 231 will no longer be part of the Enterprise fleet. 228 is replacing withdrawn 230 otherwise it would have been dropped too. 233 has yet to be overhauled.
  19. I wouldn't just yet. The set suffered a failure yesterday and again today. Yesterday was 8208 suffering from very bad wheel flats so the loco had to be removed. I don't know what todays failure was.
  20. I have a Hornby Digital Select that I'm selling. It's never been used and is boxed in the condition I bought it in shop. Selling for €65. Can post for €5.
  21. There will be no choice for the new generation after us. They won't know about anything else bar a few 201s on Enterprise and Cork runs. I feel lucky in the fact that I have memories of the A class in their very last years and watching Bell liners in the evenings coming from Belfast to Northwall.
  22. Model ICRs and 29Ks everywhere.
  23. The "problem" when using the correct scale wheels is that the tolling stock is then out of scale with the MM locos. I have 2 silver fox GSVs with correct scale wheels and they look great with them but they sit too high against a loco or Craven with their factory wheels. The coupling height is bang on but the buffer height is way off and the roof sits a bit higher than a Craven when a Craven should be taller than a Mk1. You'd have to go and change all the wheels on all the locos too so I would settle for the under scale wheels as it's far to big of a job to change out all the rolling stock.
  24. The supertrain Mk2s are €56 up from €49 for the earlier releases. Likewise the last batch of 201s are €175 up from €160-165 for the earlier releases. 1f/when the 121s see the light of day they may well be €135-140 I reckon. I hope the IR Mk2Ds and IE compos show up at some stage too.
  25. I've noticed the Cravens retailing from €39 to €49 alot, I got most of mine for 39 each. At one show a year or two ago one guy was nearly giving them away as he couldn't shift them. Think they were going for about €20-25 brand new, never opened. Still the best RTR coach on the market so they are worth the money no question.
