  1. It looks great on that model, it's very hard to do right. The livery on the real thing is still no finished as the Enterprise logo has yet to be applied to any of the locos so far. Also I believe 227 and 231 will no longer be part of the Enterprise fleet. 228 is replacing withdrawn 230 otherwise it would have been dropped too. 233 has yet to be overhauled.
  2. I wouldn't just yet. The set suffered a failure yesterday and again today. Yesterday was 8208 suffering from very bad wheel flats so the loco had to be removed. I don't know what todays failure was.
  3. I have a Hornby Digital Select that I'm selling. It's never been used and is boxed in the condition I bought it in shop. Selling for €65. Can post for €5.
  4. There will be no choice for the new generation after us. They won't know about anything else bar a few 201s on Enterprise and Cork runs. I feel lucky in the fact that I have memories of the A class in their very last years and watching Bell liners in the evenings coming from Belfast to Northwall.
  5. Model ICRs and 29Ks everywhere.
  6. The "problem" when using the correct scale wheels is that the tolling stock is then out of scale with the MM locos. I have 2 silver fox GSVs with correct scale wheels and they look great with them but they sit too high against a loco or Craven with their factory wheels. The coupling height is bang on but the buffer height is way off and the roof sits a bit higher than a Craven when a Craven should be taller than a Mk1. You'd have to go and change all the wheels on all the locos too so I would settle for the under scale wheels as it's far to big of a job to change out all the rolling stock.
  7. The supertrain Mk2s are €56 up from €49 for the earlier releases. Likewise the last batch of 201s are €175 up from €160-165 for the earlier releases. 1f/when the 121s see the light of day they may well be €135-140 I reckon. I hope the IR Mk2Ds and IE compos show up at some stage too.
  8. I've noticed the Cravens retailing from €39 to €49 alot, I got most of mine for 39 each. At one show a year or two ago one guy was nearly giving them away as he couldn't shift them. Think they were going for about €20-25 brand new, never opened. Still the best RTR coach on the market so they are worth the money no question.
  9. One of the big hosting sites went bang that members with very large collections uploaded to. Alot of them claimed they would not bother uploading the massive collections again which is a massive shame and massive loss. There are some great collections held be some people that I would love to see again.
  10. Would love some close up shots, also of the Park Royals. I have never had a good look at them either. It does seem to fit in well with the Cravens at that angle.
  11. Thanks for all the info so far. Just a question about the instanter coupler used. Why do they use a shunting pole to put more slack into the coupling while the train is being shunted. This can be done when the train has stopped and all the wagons are pushed up together. What is the purpose of this method?
  12. I thought the LYs were the 60ft flats. What are the differences between the LP and LY flats. I was watching a youtube vid this evening of the Bell liners back in the day. There was a part where the A class was hauling a liner out of Kilkenny station and I noticed that every second wagon had the new and old bogie types alternating, it was like they were intentionally marshaled this way but I'm sure was just a coincidence.
  13. Thanks, are they they ones stored in Cork for [the future biomass traffic. Didn't think there any left with the older type of bogies still fitted.
  14. Just a few questions about these flat wagons. Are the LPs the 42fts and the LX are the 47fts? Also around when were both models introduced into service, around the late '70s? Just trying to accurately model a rake and I seen some/most have spark guards fitted in recent years and they did not have these when built and recently on IWT liners they mix 42s and 47s together in the same rake, I would have thought they would generally keep them apart. Any and all info on these would be great and any more news about the 32 42 wagons that were illegally cut up at Dundalk yard 2 years ago unknown to Irish Rail until the guilty part was trying to remove the scrap for the site.
  15. The 201s in either the 071 freight livery or the new slate livery would look really good on them I reckon. Better than the MK4 IC livery.
  16. What was the layout that had the 80 class and the twin BGMs hauling a rake of bubbles. I only got a very quick passing look at it and there was far too many around it to see.
  17. It's not bad but if you're really picky like me it has a fake UIC number on it with 65 as the country code instead of 60 for a start. Decent weathering though.
  18. There are a few 8520 Dart sets going around like that for the past week or so just like 087.
  19. It's from the front cover of the IRRS journal issue 152. It was taken on 19th May 2003 at Ennis just after the train left the loading bank about 300 yards behind.
  20. Are they resprays or are there any of the commissioned models left anywhere? I only managed to get one twin pack when they were released and they sold out very fast. I was hoping another run of standards without the genny version would be released.
  21. Have a picture here beside me taken in 2003 with 14 and just one van hauled by a single 141.
  22. They were usually around 12-14 on a ballast train with either a van at one or both ends right up until they were withdrawn. Even hauled by IC livery 201s around the Cork area so they are very varied with time frames and locos that hauled them to be correct for those modeling them.
  23. Had a good ol chat earlier. There was alot of interest at the stand for the short time I was there. Hope you's clocked up a good few more orders during the day. A few guys were really getting their hopes up when they saw the the picture of the 121. They were getting way ahead of themselves.
  24. I like the new look but don't like all the white, it's hard on my eyes. I use Boards.ie alot and use the dark skin on that site as it's much easier to read than their standard blue and white and not as harsh on the eye imo.
  25. Great to see this type of venture start up among a small community. I hope it goes well and have being longing for some more rtr freight models for a while. Can't wait for the order to be ready and see the final product.
