  1. 100% agree! Sell them seperately!
  2. Ah here! The benchmark of modelling on this site just keeps getting higher and higher! That's a fantastic piece of work.
  3. Thanks BSGSV!
  4. Just reviewing this post. Can anyone tell me where locomotives take on fuel at Inchicore? Are there fueling points on the slabs outside the running sheds? Say here for example? (Credit: Google Maps)
  5. Ah ha! Didn't know that! Order will be placed presently!
  6. I'll take 1 of each pack, but it will be June before I'll be parting with my cash as the tax and insurance are due on the wheels at the end of this month!!
  7. https://goo.gl/images/GyJpRP More experimental livery
  8. Hi All I have a Klienspoor kit to be built. Mostly plastic with brass detailing. Single wagon that looks a little more complex than say an SSM ammonia tanker, but not as complex as a brass steam loco. This is a birthday present so a deadline of the 15th June, giving a 9 week build time. Finish required- painted and decals applied. This project is a little beyond my expertise. If anyone has a genuine interest in taking this on, and has the relevant skill set please pm me for further details and to open a line of conversation. Thank you for taking the time to look! One final thing, a grasp of the French or Dutch language would help as that appears to be the languages used on the instruction sheet!
  9. Ah, thanks Hurricane! That makes sense.
  10. Hi All! I see some discussion on facebook and other forums about the various works going on across the Irish Rail network in what must be one of the largest possessions ever! I know work at Sallins was to start today, Good Friday. Anyone been down that way today? I assume there will be interuptions to road traffic also? Hopefully you will all be good enough to share your photos and videos from the various locations on this thread.
  11. Hi Dave! Best price for the 3 IE ones? Can collect.
  12. I see another one failed yesterday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGbpHVMDhcc&sns=em
  13. Seconded!
  14. Something small to start with... http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Railway Stations B/Ballina/IrishRailwayStations.html#Ballina_20040705_0005_CC.jpg The Rawie buffer stops are something that feature all over Ireland at this stage. The is a 1/87 version available on Shapeways but it looks a bit too small for OO gauge.
  15. Thanks again Eoin. Yes, it's the heavy coats of paint applied to these vehicles that was scaring me. The often look like Mr. Kipling cakes!
  16. Thank you for your reply #Tarabuses. I thought there might be a site for such questions! I'm always willing to give a respray a try be it railway or vehicle, once the glazing can be removed! I hate hate hate masking windows! When respraying diecast vehicles should the paint be striped back to bare metal or can paint (undercoat and final finish) be sprayed over the factory applied paint job? Thanks Eoin!
  17. A quick question for IRM HQ, and I'm surprised no-one else has asked yet.. have you considered a twin or triple pack of the 42' flat without any load?
  18. Hi All I'm a big fan of layouts that have given some thought to the road vehicles. When you think about it, they really form part of the scenery, and with a little bit of thought they contribute hugely to the overall feel of the layout or scene. With that in mind I realise that I have a 'fear' of kit bashing or re-painting rtr vehicles, which doesn't make sense as I've no problem taking a saw to a brand new €60 wagon or carriage. So my question is this. Hattons have some bargain Plaxton coaches at £8 at the moment... https://www.hattons.co.uk/9696/EFE_26615_Plaxton_Paramount_3500_coach_Blackburn_Transport_/StockDetail.aspx I would like to pick up 4 or 5 of them and convert them to Bus Eireann colours, with some varients, school bus etc. How do I go about this? Anyone have experience, or could point me in the right direction (youtube, other forums etc.) Do the models come apart easily, what paint to use, decals etc. This is a very general questions but I'm looking forward to giving this a go!
  19. As I said on facebook, Wow Wow Wow!! This really makes modelling Irish railways even more appealing to a broader audience such as UK and American modellers, who might appreciate the similar rolling stock, GM locomotives and so on. This is positive news for all us modellers all and I'm delighted to see the sucess of this venture so far! I am concerned as pointed out previously at the number of releases this year, and laying out my wish list I leave you all to do the maths! 4x 121s 10x ferts 4x Guinness 42's 10x 42' Bells 4x Ballast Ploughs I'm starting to feel faint... and I still haven't bought any bubbles yet!
  20. Oh dear. Now that's ugly!
  21. #Railer, #BSGSV, thanks for that info, and I’d love to see a picture Railer if you could lay your hands on it! That’s interesting about a push-pull coach getting the livery also...
  22. Can anyone remember a 121 class locomotive briefly getting an orange & green hybrid suburban livery at some stage in the 1990s? Possibly around the time the DART extensions were being proposed. Did any coaching stock receive similar? (Apologies if I might have asked this before on the previous version of this site)
  23. Another Craven Restaurant, which never made it to the show
  24. Ah that’s the shot I was looking for! Thanks RedRich!
  25. Hi All In the attached picture from Inchicore Works (credit eiretrains.com) it show a 201 in for heavy service, and part of the body shell has been lifted off. Can this be done with the 071s and 141/181s if required? I know that they have many doors along the side of the body, which probably makes it easier to service, but can the entire or part of the hood be removed also? And just to clarify, I,m referring to the real thing and not the models! http://eiretrains.com/Photo_Gallery/Railway Stations I/Inchicore/IrishRailwayStations.html#Inchicore_20060908_023_CC_JA.jpg
