  1. Interestingly, there was a semaphore signal placed in that location some time later. Am not sure if that has any connection to the item shown.
  2. Hi folks, Can anyone advise what the piece of infrastructure is, outlined in green? I am guessing it is a platform for the signalman to hand over the ETS token to a driver? Are there any other photos of such infrastructure or plans? It is nit very clear in the photo. https://scontent.fdub2-3.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/277728921_10220063211387483_467474855476735848_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_p180x540&_nc_cat=101&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=0f5592&_nc_ohc=DP5gYmzHUZAAX8SOurA&_nc_ht=scontent.fdub2-3.fna&oh=00_AfBwEYn5LzXCWsVF_UICZ0hPeacZP_TKNdWFjN-mVJxA0g&oe=64DD641D From facebook.
  3. Received the same email. Am very disappointed.
  4. Condolences on your brother's passing.
  5. If not, am happy to take them in Wexford !
  6. Believe 4 levers left and some of the mechanism below. Inspecting of the timbres is due to be undertaken this week. Unsure how much is worth saving. Windows are basic aluminium frames. Wooden sills and panelling fairly rotten.
  7. Mayner, I was simply noting changes on the line. Actually there is an effort to preserve what is left of the mechanism by the WSVR.
  8. With the closure of the New Ross line and the planned new development of a station opposite the clock tower in Waterford as part of the North Quays development, Abbey Junction Signal Box is soon to be removed by the contractors, BAM.
  9. My error, apologies. Thanks for the info.
  10. Once the tallest in Ireland, Portarlington signal cabin , County Laois , was built in the 1920s. It closed in 1976 and was later demolished. This photo dated 20th May 1971 Image source the Carlisle Kid
  11. Would love any tickets to/from Kilmeaden in Co Waterford
  12. Tullow Railway Station signal cabin (no longer in existence I believe) Rathvilly Signal Box (unsure but existed in 1981)
  13. Woodenbridge Station, Co Wicklow
  14. Macmine Junction - station no longer in existence as DSER Macmine to New Ross line closed.
  15. Kilmacthomas signal cabin, before and after restoration, no equipment remaining inside. Durrow & Stradbally Signal Box, now only a fragile shell.
  16. Old Dalkey signal box. Also now gone some time in the 80s.
  17. Even earlier one of Rosslare Harbour before its extension.
  18. Rosslare Strand station - no longer in existence. Early signal box in Rosslare Harbour - long gone. And I believe the same signal box in 1993. It separated the shore line (to engine shed etc. and the pier which was later the Europort station.
  19. Wellington Bridge - intact but not in use. Line is closed (for now).
  20. Gorey - still in place, intact, but not in use.
  21. Abbey Junction, Waterford for the New Ross line (now closed) Signal box to be removed to make way for new station. Kilmeaden, Co Waterford (no longer in place) Another clearer image of Kilmeaden

  23. Another example of mixed rolling stock. This time Cobh May 1971. The train consists of what may be a 1953 built standard, a Park Royal, a "Dutch van" and a "Craven And a double headed 121 set with what looks like Cravens and Park Royals on the way to Rosslare from Dublin 1987. Limerick Junction to Limerick train in 1993 I believe. And finally a mix of Cravens and Park Royals at Tralee, 1984.
  24. Another lovely photo from Rosslare in 1987. The train on the left, headed by two of CIE's 121 class locomotives, is bound for Dublin (Connolly), while the train on the right is for Cork. Would these have been the suburban types or the mainline with toilets? Really need those Tin Vans or a 6 wheel Heating and Luggage Van please IRM!!!!!
