  2. Hi guys, Am looking for any photos of trains servicing the Allied Foundry (later Waterford Stanley). Finding it very hard to find any but I know I have seen a couple before.
  3. Have you any sources you can point me to? Would these have run on the Waterford Dungarvan and Lismore line?
  4. I would be most grateful. Are there any interior photos? I believe this was the first dining car to run in Ireland, is that true?
  5. Has anyone any seen any photo of the dining car built for the Rosslare to Cork line? It would have formed part of the purpose built rake from 1906 onwards including 11 coaches of the same profile, three brake composites, seven composite coaches and a dining car. https://www.steamtrainsireland.com/rpsi-collection/21/861-gswr-carriage
  6. Interesting view of railcar on old Wexford wooden quay. Image of 20ft bell container on its way to Rosslare presumably all visible. https://www.rte.ie/archives/2015/0318/687821-wexford-development-debate/ and they thought they had traffic problems back then!!!!

  7. A quick question relating to the ticket dating machines. Would the illustrious community know: 1) When these machines stopped being used? 2) How the machines were set up with type? Was there only numbers such as (170321) or were there letters (17MAR21)? 3) If there are any spare type faces / ribbons available? 4) Where did CIE purchase the tickets?
  8. Might Paddy do the full set of Galways including the Generator vans? Was a never able to pick up the different sets and would love a complete rake.
  9. Push pull on the Rosslare line in 1993 From Facebook.
  10. The Push-Pull were used on the Dublin Rosslare line for a while also. I have seen photos but can't find one now.

  17. Hi guys, I am looking for some detailed explanations as to how the signal staffs for single lines were used and for information of the different types used by the early railways and then by CIE. Did the position of the rings play a meaningful part in their use? Would anyone be able to point to some useful resources? With thanks
  18. Second one is almost definitely Rosbercon (New Ross) facing Waterford direction. Station building on left was for passengers with a small shelter on the far platform, building on right was the goods shed. Bridge is now located in Rosslare Strand. In the photo below the small shelter has been removed.
  19. Please please please IRM !!!!
  20. Thank you!!
  21. Hi guys, Anyone identify the location of this cement train and approx date? From Ebay.
  22. Were there any attempts to use oil / diesel to fire steam engines at any stage? Would oil be much less efficient than coal to operate an engine?
  23. Hi guys, Can anyone identify the narrow gauge locomotives used on the Baldonnell construction railway? Photos from 1918 I believe. I have read they were from different manufacturers and eventually went to India. The two narrow gauge trains would convey up to 200 workmen each on up to 25 open wagons with back-to-back seats. Waiting lorries would convey anyone who could not be accommodated on the trains. Supplies for the canteens were also carried. The number of troops stationed at Baldonnell occasionally reached the 1700 mark and at times included American and Canadian soldiers.
  24. MK3 and laminates would break me finacially but would really love them!!!
