  1. Irish Rail being proactive regarding irish railway history???? Never!!!!
  2. The fenit line (although still classified as open!!!) I d love to see IE officials proving its still open with 077 running out to fenit perhaps I agree with a lot of the comments, one person can upset the whole desert so to speak.
  3. Very nice model.........but what was the point in overhauling most of the 071 locos in the black/silver and now replacing that with slate grey? I think Irish rail has been more imaginative with liverys in the past few year than over the previous few decades.......even the branding has changed from simply irish rail to iarnrod eireann with a tri colour!!! Do you not think as aiming for an all island railway system nationalities should be put aside
  4. I think the thro' rare west Kerry booklet can be purchased for €1in blennerville windmill?
  5. im not sure there is much point, as already stated nothing available to haul them! A 00 gauge run of a limited number may do alright, but I would imagine only after the current cravens and mk2 coaches sell and the forthcoming 121 which is a good bit away
  6. I thought they were 00 gauge for a minute
  7. Ireland (particularly the government) has always has been more interested in building GAA football pitches than heritage railways....... Just look at poor 6111 now having an uncertain fate at inchicore
  8. lovely models, especially falcon in the wonderful NIR blue
  9. the above will be correct as it will probably be the LAST time it will be running as the so called Kerry model railway society is fiction and not peopleon the ground like in chester.
  10. I once bought a 201 class loco 220 from Marks Models as I had bought quite a bit of stock there over the years, I got it delivered along with the preserved version of B141. Upon delivery they were contained not in a secure box, but a paper jiffy bag or paper envelope. As a result the locos were damaged, especially the 201 class, one of its noses was completely damaged, and not runnable. I visited the city centre premises in person to ask for a refund, which I could not get as apparently the order originated from another store outside of the city centre. After paying almost €300.00 on quite delicate locomotives, I expected more in terms of secure packaging. I have since ordered all new stock including 141/Mk2D stock from another store who actually provides a very good service and proper packaging. I hope that in future all orders will be packaged properly.
  11. Even though Im supposed to be working with them??? Not even a mention to me. I hope it [chester mrc layout] doesn't end up like the actual railway i.e ruined, because if we remember that was run by business people "into the ground" as one lecturer once said.
  12. The above is correct, I am supposedly trying to help them reopen the railway yet, not invited or even told about it!
  13. It closed because of lack of interest I believe? I now know its a group of business people not model railway people
  14. Considering Bachmann have released the secr 01 and are due to release the LNER J17 ,LNER director, LMS 4f, GWR dukedog, while also considering there hasn't been an irish steam loco produced by Bachmann/murphy models since the woolwhich/ncc jinty (which technically weren't Irish!). What about a GSWR j15? 186 perhaps, or perhaps a GNR S class, Bachmann models are in the main stunning and (I find) more durable than Hornby locos.
  15. I was told its a grop of local volunteers but no one has heard of it ever before and it is certainly not manned
  16. right okay fair dues to him, it would cost €200.00 excluding postage but I could buy a Bachmann cravens DMU for €90.00 and simply give it a new livery. It would be a far better detailed model and would cost quite a bit less.
  17. Im not so sure Blaine! No one seems to be able to join and take part as there are no events, I believe it has been done for business reasons only and not for the pure interest in model railways
  18. costs a fortune for what is a pretty poor attempt , it looks like ancient Hornby mark 1 coaches! Like for what you pay its not worth it!
  19. lol :D apart from that... its interesting because no one can seem to become a member or participate in any public events because there are none!
  20. On their facebook page the chair or site owner said that there would be no trains to new ross and effectively gave in, he said that the railway enthusiasts kept going on about what type of locos instead of looking at the big picture. Apparently there was an investor ready to go. I think it is due to become a cycleway that is why there has been track clearance. P.S The T&D revival is not going swimmingly either
  21. Does anyone hear know anything about the Kerry model Railway Society? IR201
  22. In fairness the silverfox unit is a British Rail craven just repainted, and the technology is very Hornby mark1ish!! Perhaps similar to the new Bachmann units would be excellent!
