  1. 100GB SSD Storage two quad core xeons? You spoilin us r.
  2. Rob, I'm very impressed by your dedicated approach to modelling, particularly the irish scene, when there's so much off the shelf available to you in Wales. Secondly, i can't help but applaud your honesty in why you got into this madness, and i never thought this forum would have healing properties. We all have crosses to bear, this outlet is a fantastic distraction to real life, i can attest to that. I'm delighted you've put up your wonderful work - we tend to forget that a photo of a "rail car" model is only about 100mm or 4 inches long, and you're blowing it up to fill a screen for us, much larger than real life scale. The level of scrutiny is always going to be higher than a Chris Nevard type shot from several feet away, and they pass more than muster. To that end, I'd love to see a few more shots of the pocket wagon! Lastly, this is probably the worst moderated forum on the net, because it doesn't need it. Advice is plenty, craic is only a post away and as seamus often says, the abuse is free. You may discover this next feb around six nations time...! Keep posting, it keeps the aul' black dog from many our door. Richie.
  3. Unless i'm mistaken, that appears to be a CAD drawing. I'd love to know if it was redrawn from a pen and ink version, or was he a very early adopter/creator of early CAD systems? It wouldn't be too difficult to interpolate chassis plans, sections, front and rear views from the above, but more photos would help. Richie.
  4. Yeah, a few hundred actually! Not all rail related, but i'll pick out the interesting ones, and stick them in an album for a flick through at leisure. R.
  5. Evening All, I took photos of these tanktainers down on the north wall in 2008, and they may or may not be rail related. They would make an interesting respray or scratchbuild project for anyone interested the black stuff. Were they used to transport by road to the UK maybe? If there's any info about, it would be great to have it. Richie.
  6. Wrong airbrush needle, 0.8mm i'd say....
  7. Ah well spotted Arran! Now corrected, not sure how that happened! R.
  8. http://irishrailmodels.com/2012/02/26/ie-mark-iv-dvt/ There ya go! Richie
  9. Sorry to a picky git, but the "B" on the word BELL is incorrect. Happy to send on the correct one if needed. Richie.
  10. The man bigger idiot who Guinness drinks is a Nigerian Deathstar believer. than.
  11. "Tesco on" brother and let's Guinness that hope nigerian screw you doesn't. Up.
  12. Fair point. It's quite a "cut n shut" job now that i compare the two, not to mind the entirely different running gear and all the fun that would entail. R.
  13. That's the K2 Mogul that bachmann did years back.? Surely someone has it tarted up, nameplates added, and coloured correctly? I only swapped a greener for black one a fortnight ago, and was hoping someone else had a "do's and dont's" before i got stuck in. Anyone? R.

    SSM Sulzer 101

Such a tease Des.... Edit - on paints, I got some excellent cie heritage paints off Jim poots at raheny and the colour tones are unlike those available from the big manufacturers. His green is uncanny to all photos i've seen of the era. And for €2 a tin he should sell it by the pint. Richie.
  15. Really patient and dedicated work, I don't envy you, but it's tidy work, and will be worth it in the end. The few experiences I've had with brass had me making that face which coincidentally is identical to the shape of the etched cab plate where it meets the boiler. richie

    Rpsi

I think your right there ger, most folks won't recognize the rpsi livery.
  17. Exhausted! Making doors for ballykay now to keep the heart rate down.
  18. Aye they're tasty, as is that sweet little building. richie
  19. No of course not, do it within a mile, or a few miles, not your exact address. It's to get an idea of regional groupings and numbers. I had to laugh though at the thought of some scobe on Henry street, with a super detailed, weathered, chipped and pimped 201 "twenty yo-ro the tray sets". The horror anto! welcome blu - you couldn't have picked a better time to jump in, there are so many kit builders, 1offers, converters, kit bashers, out there that you have a choice in some cases of where to get stock, be it freight or passenger. A ramble around the shops and manufacturers forum, and their sites will give you and idea of the eras, stock and accessories available. And if it's not available, there's enough knowledge here to help you build one. Keep us posted:tumbsup: Richie
  20. Sounds fierce organised altogether, but I read the word "session" in there too... The first thing would be to pick regional groupings, so what we need is an interactive map, where people can anonymously, or openly pin their location. By pinning something on the map, you'd be saying that you would interested in forming up, then we'd know what the story was, how many people are where etc. Thoughts?
  21. Cheers Horse! There's another batch of Ballykay buildings coming shortly, so I hope to have photos to show later. There's more a chance of Ennis than Claremorris to be honest, but there's not a whole lot of photos of either of them to attempt to work out the drawings. There should be planning drawings on file in the County Council from the butchery in 2005/6, they haven't scanned anything in online. and it's a pretty straightforward nice building. Claremorris on the other hand is a bit of a mess, with bits stuck on all over the place, and interventions almost once a decade. If it was brought back in model form, it would have to be the original version. 60's modernist brutalism isn't my cup of custard. Richie.
  22. not a table, ( that would be hilarious) but to get a selection of photos from this site, from as many members, of their work, layouts, tutorials, about 20, not solely Irish but mostly, and assemble them into a poster for the site. Put it up at shows. Whatcha think? We're not RMweb, but at least theres a bit of craic, and you can actually navigate around this site with ease. Richie.
  23. I already tried this with Bosko for Raheny. I believe it was in the Mods forum?
