  1. I That's the standard wait time currently Harry. Now could the contributors to this awful thread go glue a few fingers together and stick it up on a wb thread. Would improve things immensely. Cranky modeller.
  2. Quite possibly the only worthy post, to a thread I can't believe is still "alive". Is anyone doing any modelling, and not the figure type. I've met a few of ye....
  3. I suppose you could, but if you're going to go to the trouble of making a 21mm model, the prestwin chassis is far from ideal. You would only end up using the two solebars only, stripped of the hanger detail present, needing a new buffer beam, buffers, coupling hook, brake gear, wagon base and so on. Getting 3.2mm styrene channel and starting from scratch would produce a far more accurate wagon. I'm sure you can get fold up brass w-irons for 21mm, the rest would just be whitemetal detail.
  4. It's used for opening and closing the drawer, not spinning the disc.
  5. I got a few from Modeltorque a few years ago, and noticed no improvement on running ability at all. As far as I know the motor itself is identical to the ones in DVD/CD drives but as Dave rightly says, they're designed for short burst operation, rather than continuous use. A quick google using the terms "modeltorque dvd drive" should inform further.
  6. Wills sheet - you sado masochist!!! Superb work Dave
  7. I know the buffer spacing is wider than the UK spacing, so can't really comment on width, but one assumes so to take advantage of the loading gauge. How we dealt with the width issue is simple. It is modelled to scale in all respects, leaf springs and W irons all in the right place. The rear face is smooth (for tooling reasons) but where the axel goes is a little collar which protrudes about 1.75mm. (about the same dia as the shank of a cotton bud). This acts as the bearing point for the axle for those using 16.5mm wheels. To use 21mm wheelsets, simply file down the collar and insert wheelsets. No brass top hat bearings or reaming out etc. Well at least that's the theory. R
  8. Not to mention that it's aimed at children, the majority of which would have been in bed when the show was on. Really bizarro stuff.
  9. Testing complete. All results negative. No Common Sense present.
  10. Couldn't agree more. They should start with "Speed 3" to aquaint themselves with the pace of transport here.
  11. See how the font colour is almost identical to the base colour of 216? Get prepared for shillelaghs and all celtic tat. Darby O'Gill may even get a look in.

  13. Not yet Harry, just a nice shade of faded A-Class Tan at the moment....
  14. Baby poo green swirls on the coaches, midnight blue swirls on the loco?
  15. Most likely answer is that its a base coat for some very complicated vinyl work. (and an absolute hoor to replicate in 00 I'd imagine.... )
  16. Photo taken by Chris Playfair.
  17. I bought a Flying Scotsman 10 years ago, and the photo was of a superb looking thing altogether. What turned up was a mess, with the front bogie hanging off like a dislodged testicle. I pretty much put that in the feedback, and oddly enough, he wasn't keen to rectify the issue. It's still in a "dysfunction" state
  18. Joe, I'm assuming it's a roundy roundy with those dimensions. At a minimum 2 feet will be eaten up at either end for the curves, but a MK3 will oversail the curve much earlier. I would say a conservative guesstimate would be no longer than 4 feet/1200mm. This will accommodate a 201 and three coaches. Width should be around 3 inches/ 76mm at a height of 1 inch / 25mm above baseboard level. That make sense? R
  19. I approve of this puntastic post. +1
  20. Sorry Kieran, that's a pity, but I just notice that if you filled in one of the gangway crosswalk openings, you'd have vehicle IE 742, or as close as. It appears to be the same designation. Defo going to invest in a kit. R.
  21. Kieran, Here are some prototype photos of 750 (not mine, First is Fred Dean's, forgot to note copyright holders of the other three) And after I did some butchery to the Brittania Pacific model. I may have over-egged it on the decal front..... Richie.
  22. The only difference between the two is a ballast cleaning plough, minor details, that come etched which you can use, or not. Plasser 08-16 C80RT is the one. I'll dig out some photos for you. R.
  23. Cheers Noel! She looks stunning on the layout btw.
  24. Kieran, You'll need to register here to get full details. Not automated, but worth the wait. http://www.ontrackplant.com/sightings-of/ireland or http://www.ontrackplant.com/sightings-of/northern-ireland Not many are 00, the bachmann tamper in particular looking well below even H0 scale to be fair. More like 1:100 almost compared with a 1:76 model. The brittania pacific model is really very close to the Irish prototype, but the roof needs some revision, along with the addition of pneumatic hoses etc, a job you'd tackle with ease. It's the best resin casting I've ever come across, really is top of the line production. If I can dig out photos of the one I irish-ised, I'll post them later. http://www.dckits-devideos.co.uk/shop/track_machines_tampers_overhead_catenery_infrastructure/clockwork_ideas_and_tamping_machines/plasser_08_16_c80rt_c100_rt_tamping_machine.php The other ones available are the Veissman tamper - really looks superb, closest to an Irish vehicle is 742 (don't hold me to that, I'll check later. 742 at Kildare PW, 4/4/15 by Kieran Marshall, on Flickr Lastly, if some of the younger members on here want to see what and early "Netscape" type website from about 20 years ago looks like, its Linea Models in Italy. http://www.lineamodel.it/benvenuti_in_lineamodel.htm the kits are top of the range H0, but pricey. the APT model is is €500. They have other per way stuff, but that site is giving me a headache. HTH. R.
  25. What a lousy month, so many legends lost. The dangle berries of the celebrity classes and crooked politburo seem to survive like cockroaches....mighty peculiar.
