  1. 300 quid for a used model, add on the customs charges and the An Post charge and the British postage cost. Tell them where to shove it despite the ' Very good box ' !
  2. and the second man was hanging very precariously out the cab door trying to see around the curve into Barrack Street
  3. Up to early 1995, 121s did operate bonnet first. The 1135 Adelaide to North Wall liner was regularly worked by a single 121. After some shunting in Dundalk, the 121 would propel part of the liner past the junction to Barrack Street and then work bonnet first down the branch. Also a brake van was at opposite end for the two reverse workings. After more shunting of the wagons collected from Barrack Street, the brake van was left in Dundalk and the liner continued to North Wall.
  4. I detest railcars on the 5'3" gauge but a model ICR is a different kettle of fish, one will look fantastic on my layout. Unfortunately due to restrictions regarding looping , I am limited to a 4 car set on the mainline and reduced to a 3 car set on the branch working, Once again well done to the lads in Carrickmines.
  5. Good heavens Spudfan dont tell her that , " six axles and four axles" , it is a dead cert that herself like all the other herselfs in the country would call in the men in the white coats to take us all away.
  6. I would guess most of them were nicked over the years long before they were withdrawn !

Be aware of the customs charge. I got a Class 33 from Rails of Sheffield and had to pay the charge to An Post It arrived a few days later.
  9. Just received one of the wonderful A classes. It is an amazing piece of work . Well done to the team in Irish Railway Models , the three year wait has been worth it. Also well done as always to An Post , delivered to me the day after it was dispatched.
  10. Thanks Patrick , I wont sleep now. The Beet campaign is about to start and the 'A's are booked for the Beet trains. That container has to be here.
  11. The three year wait is nearly over. Anybody know the name of the ship the famous 40' container is on so we can all go to the Great South Wall to welcome it.
  12. Take yourself to Downpatrick and you will see a running A class there.

  14. I am all on for this Irish Deltic - why not . Deltic 16 was going around for a while in that crazy purple livery. So IRM get cracking !
  15. Amazing wagons - well done IRM once again
  16. Got my copy on December 27th - the perfect post Christmas present. I knew this was going to be a cracker and it certainly is. This book really sums up how good our railways were not too long ago. The variety we had is all summed up in this superb book. Get it while you can and see in great detail how good our railways used to be. !
  17. Fantastic photos , the 121s look amazing. Well done to MM - Again ! 2020 is going to be some year - 121 & A classes. How times have changed since the Hornby 'Hymek' and the Lima Class 33.
  18. I agree with Noel - Support your local Sherriff. I have bought a lot of my British stuff over the years from Rails and Hattons ( mainly because of the vast choice available ) but all the Irish stuff that I have has been got from Model Shop Belfast, Grahams in Portlaoise ( both regrettably now closed ) and Marks Models. Thanks to MM and IRM we have an amazing selection of quality models and many more to come. We have come along way from my Lima CIE supertrain with the class 33 in the 1970s. We are blessed we still have a great model shop - Marks Models in Dublin and Cork. I know where I will getting my 121s from - regardless of price !
  19. Great video, Wexford 70. Lovely seeing Rosslare Harbour as it was. I arrived there last Sunday and was literally spat out on to the platform to fend for myself. The place is dead now, I do not even bring a camera there anymore. Well done on a superb video.
  20. Edo, just slip them in among the other bubbles ' customs' will never notice the latest ones
