  1. There's a few rumours (aren't there always?) flying around as to what loco is going to work this tour. It's far to early to quote a specific one so I would disregard any rumours quoting 2XX etc. As it stands, we have requested an Enterprise loco, as with any railtour this will be subject to availability at the time. 201s are rare visitors to the branches we're covering, even moreso Limerick (despite being there daily until the late 2000s), and an Enterprise liveried one even rarer still. Again, this is conditional on availabliity on the day as I'm sure anyone who frequents railtours understands. I genuinely don't think we'll be covering Limerick in a mkIV set again so this should be a unique special too as far as we're concerned. https://www.tailtetours.com/event-details/the-great-southern-railway-centennial-railtour
  2. I have one my Dad's old Railway Modellers from the early 80s which reviews Hornby's then new Class 58 model and discusses how it pre-empted the prototype, which had yet to debut. I believe it turned out there were some flaws but still.
  3. Finally got a chance to open mine (1:1 scale railway modelling took up my Sat ). Lovely little creatures indeed. Looking forward to running some mixed green Park Royals when they come out, old CIÉ stock formations look fun.
  4. Mine arrived safe and sound today, in fairness fairly fast delivery once dispatched.
  5. Same, I ordered early on but I remember messing around with something...
  6. Received my shipping notice this morning. In fairness it's a mammoth order for all to get through on top of their regular sales I'm sure.
  7. Times now confirmed, dept Heuston @ 09:10, back for 20:38 Pick up Limerick Junction 10:50, back for 19:00 This will mark the first ever opportunity to travel on a mkIV set over the Limerick line, and I can't see a repeat anytime soon so I advise booking soon (we can't add extra carriages!) https://www.tailtetours.com/post/first-passenger-run-of-a-mkiv-to-limerick-to-take-place-on-táilte-railtour
  8. Just the two and I believe always together but open to correction. Would often be a CityGold carriage in the formation too and a 74xx diner.
  9. After almost a year of no operations after the disastrous floods, the Downpatrick & County Down Railway will be running trains once again this month as The Phantom Flyer rolls into town on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th October. The stock in use will be 450 class 'Thumper' set No.458 "Antrim Castle" (as seen on Derry Girls). If you're looking for some heritage diesel railcar action while bringing the kids on a Halloween scare with a difference you'll find full details and tickets available from: https://www.downrail.co.uk/event/halloween/

  10. One featured on the 1964 Grand Steam Tour of Ireland with laminates and J15s, well worth watching this video incidentally:
  11. Beautiful. Now there's a model idea...
  12. WayBackMachine doesn't always save images depending on what way they were hosted. I suspect in Fototopic's case the images were on a different server to the site superstructure.
  13. Mine was included on the invoice for sure.
  14. Just got my invoice there this morning... all straight forward in the end.
  15. Love the station building, really nails the Wilkinson style found on the MGW and DSE.
  16. I suspect by the time the sets were cleared for other lines and staff trained, GC would be passed for 201s...
  17. In this universe (Earth 1541)* a Woolwich survived into preservation, seen here with 186 on railtour duties in the 2000s. *Yes I'm a DC fan
  18. Trust me if I was hungover I wouldn't be cutting polystyrene on a Sunday morning
  19. A bit under weather this weekend so stayed in, used the opportunity to experiment with a polystyrene platform base. To be continued...
  20. Dublin Heuston-Limerick Junction (reverse)-Limerick Check (reverse)-Killarney(reverse & break)-Dublin Heuston. Booked stock is a 201 class loco and a mkIV carriage set, this will be the first ever passenger working of a mkIV set over the Limerick line, having previously only worked there on acceptance trials/works visits. 201s are also now comparitively rare visitors to the Limerick and Tralee lines, with 071s traditionally more common on PW and railtour workings. https://www.tailtetours.com/event-details/the-great-southern-railway-centennial-railtour
  21. Among the items are Gerry Cochrane's Back in Steam, an inspirational read on how the DCDR came to be and its story up to 2009. Highly recommended for all lovers of Irish railway preservation.
  22. We've a few places left on this if anyone wants to join, we'll be confirming numbers with the bus company in a few days.
  23. Some magnesite wagons recently arrived for storage
  24. With thanks to Iarnród Éireann, Táilte Tours are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Great Southern Railway in November 1924 with a special commemorative railtour, comprising of a day trip from Dublin to Killarney and back, but with a twist. On the outbound journey we will be taking a quick detour into Limerick Check, marking the first time a mkIV carriage set has operated over this line with passengers (and indeed, a the first ever passenger working of a mkIV set into Limerick). The train will be hauled by a 201 class, now rare visitors to the Kerry and Limerick lines. This tour promises to be a relaxing day out using Intercity standard carriages and with catering trolley service on board, offering passengers the chance to indulge in some pre-Christmas shopping in Killarney while taking in the beautiful sights of the Kerry line from a comfortable express train. For railway enthusiasts, this tour offers are a rare chance to experience mkIV carriages on the branchlines to Limerick and Kerry, with 201 class locomotives also now being rare visitors to these locations. Pick up/set down available from Dublin Heuston, Kildare and Limerick Junction. Full timings will be confirmed in due course, bookings now open at: https://www.tailtetours.com/event-details/the-great-southern-railway-centennial-railtour
  25. And if anyone is in the area on Sunday, Callum will have some of these locomotives in action at the Coolgreany Vintage Day (open 12-6). It's about 10 min drive the Arklow South exit on the M11.
