  1. Great work in brass there Eamonn.
  2. Note that Mr Soundguy now has a website with videos of his Irish sound projects: see http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/forumdisplay.php/60-Mr-Soundguy
  3. A string of these with Bell containers will look great behind a Supertrain loco!
  4. The Carlow Station building is a good example of the many fine architectural artefacts on Irish railways. Alphagraphix do a range of card kits of other stations/other Irish railway buildings but the resin models are very good. I have a number of station models that I can alternate on my model railway "Ballybeg" at home or at exhibitions. I have purchased a Carlow model for adaptation into "Ballybeg" livery!
  5. Are the 141 chassis available separately from MM now?
  6. Nice video Eamonn.
  7. I'll put together a video with Eamonn once Ballybeg is reassembled (in the garage at present while the railway room is repainted!).
  8. I have fitted DCC Loksound soundchips to two of Murphy Models N Class locos. There is room in the coal tender to fit an 8-pin socket, sound chip and a Bass Reflex speaker (facing down to the track). I even managed two LED oil lamps on front which work regardless of direction of travel! I used the sound project from Southwest Digital which is quite impressive with a coasting feature. A third MM N Class I fitted with a non-sound chip. No room unfortunately for smoke units but these can be difficult to get to work properly.
  9. Might be a good way to kick start the 121 model (5 liveries)
  10. Plans in place to have a green/black Park Royal among the green coaches!
  11. , When visiting Llangollen a few years ago I purchased two CDs with Diesel and Steam Railway Station background sounds costing £9.99 each. They are produced by Taliesin Studios qt 2 Meiron House, Tan-Y-Grisau, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd, North Wales (UK) LL41 3SU.Tel 00-44-1766 830159 e-mail sales@taliesin-consultants.com.
  12. I understand that Mr Soundguy is planning reprogramming (reblows in the jargon). See also new post on his 071 Zimo soundchip: http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/3635-sound-chips?p=59009#post59009
  13. Mr Soundguy has kindly provided me with an advance version of his 071 soundchip and here is a video of Murphy Models 086sa fitted with a Bass Reflex speaker on Ballybeg. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=071+loco+realdrive Thanks to Eamonn for the video. The chip uses F4 for brake raising the revs per the prototype (see as loco grinds to a halt), F9 for flange squeal, F2 for short horn, F3 for longhorn plus all MM lights work as plug and play. The RealDrive may be turned off using F5 to give a more DC type immediate response to acceleration/deceleration.
  14. Marks Models have the bag of detailing parts for €4 each.
  15. See also discussion and video on 071 soundchips here: http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/3635-sound-chips/page3
  16. To (mis)quote a poem you may have done in school " we wondered how one small head could hold all he knew..."
  17. The UK authorities take great care to move trespassers off the rails including stopping trains where necessary to avoid fatalities. The French authorities seemingly issue warnings not to trespass and then do not chase trespassers or stop trains...
  18. I have found ESU Lokpilot to be a pretty advanced chip particularly for double-heading 141/181/121s. The CVs are easy to adjust which may be necessary to get all functions working on the 201s which have unusual electronic set-up/architecture.
  19. Mr Soundguy recommends using Bass Reflex (larger) or Bass Enhanced (smaller) speakers with all of his soundprojects.
  20. Patrick Scott died just this year see: http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/2942-Patrick-Scott-RIP?highlight=patrick+scott
  21. I understand that Mr Soundguy who pioneered the recording of Irish loco sounds is working on a new version of the Zimo soundproject in order to make notching and revs on braking possible.
  22. Many thanks Glenderg, this has been most helpful. I have the donor carriages/Westy transfers all lined up to do a rake of Supertrain MKIIIs including the Supertrain Diner once I finish with the IE restaurant coach and a few other jobs so your new pictures will be useful.
  23. Thanks for that, now on order. Better than fiddling with plasticard!
  24. Glenderg, Perchance would you have a photo showing the other side of the roof as I think I see a third vent lurking behind the top two and wonder what shape/size it might be? Many thanks
  25. Thanks Glenderg, great pictures, just what I needed. The MIR sides will give me the correct window formation. The Hornby donor I am using is a standard open so I can add the two additional vents.
