  1. The ex-Soviet probe-and-drogue refuelling system is, interestingly, compatible with the NATO standards*, which might come in handy for somebody one day. * i.e., except those US aircraft that are committed to their flying-boom system.
  2. When I used to do the Holyhead run, they didn't really expect people to get off at the intermediate stops. If there was nobody on the platform, then they would only make 'token' stops, of very short duration - you had to be really quick off the mark if you actually were getting off. The shortest 'stationary period' that I ever timed was seventeen seconds in Rhyl.
  3. It was, these things are usually awful, but that was just spot-on, really.
  4. Great little film - a DART at 4:20.....
  5. Is that your shed? Looks plenty big enough........
  6. Ah, right. Good luck with it all and keep us informed as you go along.
  7. Kedleston...? Are you near Derby, or is there some other reason?
  8. The lights worked, but the barriers stayed up. This is a crossing at Wem, in Shropshire, monitored from Cardiff, apparently. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-shropshire-31694929

  12. I went to the RAF Museum at Cosford today - they have a large model Bear hanging up - must be about nine feet long. http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/cosford/
  13. Bostik took over the Evode factory - although it says Bostik, if you asked for directions, few people would know what you meant, it's still called Evode by everybody but the factory management.... There's a good range of stuff, both Evostik and Bostik, plus many other sticky substances. http://www.bostik.co.uk/diy
  14. I happen to live across the fields from the factory, but I don't know anybody left working there these days - you could ask them - http://www.bostik.co.uk/diy/contacts for their advice.
  15. No - Scotty went ten years ago...
  16. Not to be fired when on Malahide Viaduct...
  17. E-man should at least be able to organise the delivery on time, surely..? Best wishes to all - and the new arrival, in particular...
  18. They turn up at the bottom of the homepage on the day, if people have filled it in - I don't usually think of looking until the evening, so the cakes are usually still a bit warm, but it's the thought that counts. Must send Admin the gas bill.....
  19. Tupolev fitted some of the 124s with oversized escape slides.
  20. Click on the third icon from the right above the 'post' box - it's supposed to look like a framed picture - it'll say 'insert image' if you leave the cursor on it. A box will appear - insert your own photo from your computer - or click the right button at the top to insert the url of a picture from the internet. To be honest, I use http://imgur.com/ for my own pictures on here - just paste in the img link from the site when you've uploaded your picture to it.
  21. Might have been better just to tie 'em to the drum..?
  22. A happy ending to a story with "bus" and "fire" in it....
  23. Almost '"dazzle ships"....
