  1. [ [. Turns out, after building it, it's 8'6 not 9'6 as I originally thought, so this baby goes in the bin. dont you dare throw that sperry in the bin! if it is no use to you richie, i will put her to good use!
  2. david good tip with the warming the model! waffles.... how do you apply the johnsons clear, cloth or brush? i tried both. the brush left bristle marks and the cloth removed the decals i was trying to seal!
  3. [Leslie However, the Jinty ran "up North" so none of this repainting it in black and tan! dont worry leslie, this is a shell of a jinty that i just use for practice....it would never go on any in that livery! (couldnt do it to such a graceful little engine)
  4. tamiya masking tape.
  5. dont forget the steamers....... a jinty supertrain! excuse the paintjob, the masking was done using household tape ...having none of the good stuff - you have to improvise!!

  11. isnt it a pity that the foynes depot/station has been let fall into such a state ? in looking at old pics and having been there many moons ago, it was and hopefully will be a beautiful active rail yard. i remember a pic of a metro vic pulling a rake of mogol ore wagons - they are without dought in my mind the most unusual and attractive wagons that ever graced irish metals!

LADS , SAW THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE IN AN OLD INDEPENDANT NEWSPAPER ABOUT A DERAILMENT LAST JANUARY IN THE TCD IN PORTLAOISE. ANYONE KNOW HOW IT DERAILED? Monday September 27 2010 'THREE new rail carriages costing €6m will have to be repaired at a cost of €350,000 after they were derailed in a depot. The accident happened when the carriages were being moved in the Iarnrod Eireann rail depot in Portlaoise, Co Laois. No one was injured in the incident, which occurred last January. But the Irish Independent has learned that the final bill for the repair of the damaged undercarriages in all three carriages will run to €350,000. The repairs are due to be carried out in the coming weeks after a company was selected to do the work, following a public tender. An Iarnrod Eireann spokesman said yesterday there had been no technical fault with the train, but confirmed that the derailment took place during a shunting manoeuvre in the Portlaoise depot. A total of 177 new inter-city rail cars were bought three years ago, replacing the older, slower trains. Each new rail carriage cost €2m'. JESUS ....350,000 IS A LOT FOR A SIMPLE DERAILMENT DURING SHUNTING!
