lads, in talking to one of the authors of the book 'rails through the west'....(.none other than our own jhb171 achill)... he has kindly given me permission to put up that pic of the lowloader carring the crane at the fergus bridge -many thanks john, im sure the lads appreciate it! now that would ne a great scene on any layout!

could well have been, but i was banished from mullingar to portlaoise when i was 18,the cinema there was called the Hibernian...never got there much as we were always on the lakes! was only in the colosseum once and that was before it was burned down. ah yes.....'an officer and a gentleman' was the film. back row with.........nough said!

if someone here takes the mother-in-law off my hands i could afford the lot!!! i think having the lima 201's for so long, the novelty of the new ones has worn off!...thats not taking from them, they are a superbly detailed machine and all credit to paddy murphy.....but as ye say the 071 are the bogs wobbly bits! i hope we all get as excited when the 121's (the little beauts!) are announced:) -
tried to enlarge the pic but still cant make it out! at first glance- there appeared to be a sliley face drawn above the 4. but after enlarging it it seems not:confused:.......have a look. a pint of the black stuff to anyone who figures it out!! mogul- where is div 4?

thanks gordon-same little bugger! now we know what type of ceane to look for:rolleyes:....mind you, that one dosent look to have been used in a while! there is a more modern crane shown on repair work on the fergus bridge near ennis in the book called 'rails through the west' which would suit the modern era. love to put it up here but copyright and all that .............maybe jhb171achil can help here! ( if i ask nicely!!!) anthony-good link there -thanks

just pucked up an airfix one on ebay for 9 pounds! now to find a crane similar to the modern one as in the pic from rails through the west-(GREAT BOOK!)
