Many a familiar face so far. Sub 2 hour fully electrified enterprise was hinted at….now THAT would be interesting  

 

next week is Dromod, Stradbally and presumably listowel 

 

I must say these nationwide programmes are decent quality.

Cheers watched it. Ultimately if Ireland upgraded Cork line to a high speed (eg TGV, ICE), by continental standards Cork should be 90mins away by rail. Great to hear diesel is going to be phased out in the not too distant future and replaced by electric trains. Enjoyed tonights programme, can be watched back on RTE Player for anybody who missed it live.

I must say these nationwide programmes are decent quality. 

I wonder what stock would be ordered for an electrified Great Northern line? Would a more conventional TRAXX or Vectron loco be ordered? Or would they go with a full bona fide high-speed electric Velaro EMU? Whatever it may be, they would presumably have to be dual-voltage for the 1500 V DC Malahide-Connolly section, so maybe a Euro Dual loco will be ordered if the BR Class 93 is a success.

Got to love the accuracy - less than three minutes in and DART is mentioned as Dublin Area Rapid Transport  and then the reporter buys a ticket to Pearse Street. Gotta love the standard of journalism on RTE - nearly as good as the company that they are reporting on.

Yea potatoe patayto transit transport. Many journo's and researchers seem to only spend 90 seconds on google to research anything instead of speaking with qualified sources. Wiki is taken as gospel truth.
