At one stage yesterday you had the failed DD set in.platform 2 with the 11.20 from Dublin in platform 1. The replacement Caf was in platform 1. Chaos staff blaming work at GvS for our one hour delay

I thought 11.20 had gone into Platform 4?

On Sunday night the following happened:

The 16:00 ex Dublin was almost THREE HOURS LATE into Belfast, signalling issues at Portadown.

The 17:05 ex Belfast was TWO HOURS LATE

The 19:05 ex Belfast was likely about 2 hours late.

Took the Enterprise yesterday afternoon to Belfast (16:50). It pulled into Platform 4 at central - never seen it do that before. A zebra up front - dunno which one.

10:35 this morning was a 6-ICR.

ICR covering the ex Dublin 0735 for the next 14 weeks

Yes, I believe it is the 0735, 1320 & 1900 ex Dublin and the 1035, 1605 & 2136 (2128 on Saturdays) ex Belfast (Mon - Sat) and the 1000 & 1600 ex Dublin & the 1305 & 1905 ex Belfast on Sundays.

By the way, does anyone know if the 06:35 ex Newry and 17:13 ex Pearse will be affected during the July and August line closure?

I was on the 1520 Connolly to Belfast today formed by 231 + 9004. It arrived at 1618, and left at 1622 (6 mins late) but we took just 68 minutes from Dundalk to Belfast arriving at 1730 (5 mins early)!

231 must be one of the fast locos.

Is the line closure from 1 June to 4 June still going ahead?

Also…

Saturday 6th July to Sunday 25th August 2024

The line between Portadown and Belfast will be closed to facilitate works associated with the construction and opening of the new Belfast Grand Central Station.

During this period, trains will operate as normal between Dublin Connolly and Portadown only. Bus transfers will be in place between Newry and Belfast for customers travelling to/from Belfast.

Do we know if every traction is going to test Grand Central?

?

That would be the plan for 201s plus the ICRs and possibly the 29000 but need to check the latter to confirm

July 5th last day for DDs using Lanyon before line closure to Lisburn

So I must get down to Lanyon on the 5th July! Might see the 2005 x Belfast Enterprise.

Passengers are advised that due to fallen power cables blocking the line in Clontarf, train services will terminate in Drogheda and passengers will be transported to Dublin by bus. The same will apply for passengers travelling on the 0735 ex Dublin who will travel from Dublin to Drogheda and will then get the train to Belfast. The repair team is on site. Updates will be given as soon as possible. Last Updated :27/05/2024 09:44

Irish Rail have confirmed that the Enterprise will be operating from Grand Central from August 25th and an hourly timetable with pre-09:00 arrivals into both cities to come on October 7th

Very exciting news and a long overdue but big step in the right direction for cross border rail! Just a shame that while the Belfast bound trains are clock face departures at the xx:50 every hour, the Dublin trains out of Belfast are not… would’ve been a nice touch I wonder why they weren’t able to do that…?

Looks like four train sets needed for that. Three DDs plus an ICR, presumably. Tempting, therefore, to assume that the railcar will do the 05:50 ex Dublin, and corresponding trips throughout the day, e.g. the 09:00 to Dublin, 11:50 north, and so on........
