Warbonnet
Bachmann have announced that they're doing a new 4 function 21pin DCC chip. This one now supports advanced consisting, which will be good news to those looking to run 141s in pairs. Warbonnet
About time Fran they've fallen behind big time in this sector Yep, interesting to see how good they are and what price they will be. I have 141s, 20s and 37s I'd like to pair up! Be interesting to see if they're any use in the 071s and 201s too.
heirflick
fran, just out of interest, if you wanted to doublehead, why not remove the motor from one loco?

Double heading on models in some cases is just like the real thing as you need extra power to pull a train up an incline. Imagine the yank modellers taken the motor out of their locos to pull there long trains using just one loco. There wouldn't be enough power. Warbonnet
fran, just out of interest, if you wanted to doublehead, why not remove the motor from one loco? I like to have the extra power especially on long trains and big gradients Seamus. And sometimes I'd want to run them single too. DCC gives you nice flexibility to do both. irishthump
fran, just out of interest, if you wanted to doublehead, why not remove the motor from one loco? You can always set both locos to the same address.

Warbonnet
You can always set both locos to the same address. You can but then they're the correct lighting patterns to worry about! Maybe I take this too seriously....

irishthump
You can but then they're the correct lighting patterns to worry about! Maybe I take this too seriously.... Well that's not a problem as you can map the light functions to suit the consist.
Warbonnet
Well that's not a problem as you can map the light functions to suit the consist. That's a lot of faffing around though for me. Advanced consisting would sort out the lights when two locos are put together and when you put them back they can return to normal without extensive programming. I see the new chips are made by Soundtraxx as opposed to ESU (who made the old Bachmann 21 pin and 8 pin chip) and is in the Blue Pullman. I can say that they are super smooth in my BP and the yank tsunami sound decoders I have are top notch control and sound wise.

Dave
I bought 4 of them from Marks Models, they are made by Soundtraxx. They are supplied with all CV's set to 0. So if you have a basic DCC controller you won't be able to program them.

Dave
It was around €80 for the four. I wasn't impressed to find they are not programmed. I have the basic Dynamis so I'm changing it for an NCE Power Cab.
