josh_ Posted April 7 Posted April 7 (edited) Hi all, Im currently planning on building a layout and the way in building it and wondering if anyone has a diagram of the shed and maybe turntable, Im hoping to build connolly shed and its turntable as a first layout to junction off from my circuit of double track in my bedroom I also might document the journey here from building the shed to running locos up and down Edited April 7 by josh_ 4 Quote

josh_ Posted Wednesday at 13:37 Author Posted Wednesday at 13:37 (edited) Where Connolly shed will be Where I then had the idea to put in the turntable So I can remove the white shelf where my 141 is displayed but as u can notice chunk the brink went, not to worry as there will be wooden support beams put in as I will have locos and other rolling stock up on there Edited Wednesday at 13:39 by josh_ Quote
josh_ Posted Wednesday at 13:51 Author Posted Wednesday at 13:51 Also am drawing on a4 sheet of paper a dimensional diagram of the future layout and hoping from IE’s FOIs that they will supply a drawing of Connolly shed its self and maybe the yellow brick house and turntable next to it, if not I’ll ask as the FOIs are a great, easily alternative to source specific needs based on our railways as many would know Quote

Darren.d Posted Friday at 15:26 Posted Friday at 15:26 I was going to do a modern era too.even made up the side buildings.im doing the 70s so decided to start over.if your interested there was also a signal cabin across from the shed that was knocked down in 1984. Id be very interested to see drawings if you get them.see how far off my measurements were. 4 1 1 Quote
josh_ Posted Saturday at 23:32 Author Posted Saturday at 23:32 I’d forward them onto u when I get an email of them but for now I’ll work with Sketches of support and board Measurements of the area where it will be in my room Track layout(satellite view from google earth will work perfect) and I’ve photos of other extra details like junction boxes I took on my way to Bangor that morning Quote
Darren.d Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago 9Yeah I used Google maps for measurements. While not exact its a good indicator.my shed is 250 mm wide and 900 mm long which is a bit short.turn table is about 200 mm. If you use anyrail you can drop a Google image in and layout track plans over it. Iv stalled as iv no clue how to put it into a layout.id be interested to see how you overcome this as I don't have a lot of space. 4 1 1 Quote
Darren.d Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Be great to have the space to model this picture iv counted 22 sets of crossings and points ,cost a small fortune in points and motors. 1 1 Quote

fishplate7 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Only seeing this thread now. See attached drawings which I did some time ago. All based on my own research: - historial drawings; photographs, counting bricks and approximating heights etc., many from open source material. Hope these help. Eamonn Conno;ly Shed - elevation.pdf Connolly Shed - part plan & elevation.pdf I should also say I have drawn all elevations which include the water tanks if that is of any good to you. I cannot vouch that all of these drawings are 100% accurate! Quote
Darren.d Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago They look fantastic eamonn.was the water tank any higher ? 6 hours ago, josh_ said: Thanks Darren I’m not very good wilt any rail but I’ll defo give it a try and I’ll use peco streamline tracks for the point tracks as they suit best Got these On my way to Bangor Great pictures.plenty of lines idea detail Quote
