Looks very solid, could be quite heavy though once finished?

Its actually not too heavy, just awkward for one person to move it around. Once rails are laid and and i get the front board installed and painted, ill move it into the house to complete it

Great to see you back with this @Celtic_transport.

It looks like you've put a lot of work into that frame and that it's very well engineered!

Really looking forward to your next steps.

Thanks @west_clare_wanderer, took a bit of planning as i wanted it to be operational from both sides, as its going to be displayed against a wall, and in case its ever in a show, i can then operate from behind. Should have an update by the end of the week.

After a bit of filler and a few coats of primer, decided to snap a few photos of the current motive power assigned to the layout. They're idling on the scratch-built fuelling slab i had made for the first version of the layout. Unsure whether ill keep it or get a 3D printed one. On the layout only one road will be still in use as a fuelling point, the line nearest the edge of the baseboard will be overgrown, used for storing per way stock. Just waiting to get my hands on a 071, as you cant have a 21st century navan based layout without one, it would just feel wrong.

The baseboard and framework look super now they're painted, and the locos are right at home. I have fond memories of those baby GMs!

071s do come up occasionally on eBay, not always at stupid prices. I hope you've got your eye on this one (be quick!):

We'll have to wait and see whether there is a future batch of 071s.

Have a bid in on it now! Thanks for letting me know. The baseboard does look well with the primer, but that wont be the final colour. I will stop before i spoil it😅
