Chevron
Knowing that OO and HO tracks are the same but the scale is 1:76 and 1:87 How do loco's compare to each other side by side? As in how "Off" would they look running both OO and HO loco's on the same Layout?

0 Chevron
Cheers... that rules out a lot of American loco's so . since majority is HO
0 UP6936
I run US HO diesels along with Irish oo, and honestly i think it looks fine, especially given that US locos are generally bigger to begin with. What you shouldnt do though is run HO & OO irish or british stock together, then the scale difference would become apparent
0 BosKonay
I also have some HO per way kit which looks fine too as long as not too close to the OO
0 Chevron
Ah any HO i would do would only be the American loco's. So American locos beside Irish/British Locos should be fine ?
0 UP6936
Yep, should be.
0 irishthump
Ah any HO i would do would only be the American loco's. So American locos beside Irish/British Locos should be fine ? Whether or not they look ok is entirely up to you! I have a few HO American locos and freight cars and I think they look fine.
0 Flying Scotsman 4472
I have a few HO locos and stock but for me personally they look out of place side by side with the OO . Another thing I could never get my head around is the size of a class 66 beside a 201 the 66 looks tiny even though they are both OO. 0 Broithe
There's a 13 to 14% scale difference, depending upon which way you're looking. It can depend upon what sort of thing you're looking at - the Cararama Volvo earthmovers are 1/87 and yet still look 'right' on an 00 layout..
