Junctionmad Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Contemplating another run from Gorey by motorised rail covered in lawn mower , I now notice that getting a return to bray and catching a Dart saves nearly a tenner on the total return fare. What madness is this. It's cheaper to disembark and switch , then stay in the same train ! And we let these people run a railway !
StevieB Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 In the same vain, travelling from Cheltenham to Birmingham via Bromsgrove, splitting your journey at Bromsgrove was cheaper than direct. Stephen
Broithe Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 People used to buy tickets to the station past Gatwick and get off early, as it was cheaper - so they passed a by-law making it an offence to get off before your stated destination.

Walk up fares don't show any saving at all. Day Return Gorey - Connolly: €21.60 Day Returm Gorey - Bray: €19.15 Return Bray - Connolly: €6.65 cash / €5.74 LEAP.

Your last sentence is disrespectful to some members on here who happen to be IE staff and your moaning about IE is getting insufferable at this stage. The site would be better served if topics which are of interest to railway modelling were discussed and showcased instead of whine after whine about IE policy, rightly or wrongly. So let's leave it there. Thank you.
