More like a department store, probably the last of the large specialist model railway shops. I have bought on line from Caboose Hobbies both in Ireland and New Zealand and it looks like I got there just in time spending an afternoon in the shop in May

Wow, Caboose Hobbies seem like the B&H Photo of model rail retail in USA. Seems a shame they are closing rather than selling the business on if the the reason is retirement. Their dated web site is pretty awful. http://www.caboosehobbies.com

Just remember that you stand a chance of getting hit with duty on stuff coming in from outside the EU. Not funny that they include the cost of postage along with the cost of the item when working out the amount of duty you pay - typically 30% on top

Correct, they can still work out slightly cheaper than buying in Europe, exchange rate permitting.

 

Alternatively, go on well earned holiday to the states, buy locally or from somewhere like train world and get shipped to the hotel.
