Sulzer201 Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Picked up GM 203 today at Stillorgan, a fine looking loco and a welcome addition to my small fleet of locos. Thanks again to big Dave. Quote
enniscorthyman Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 A great model they are Tommy. I bought 203 myself last year. Although the loco looks much better when you paint the exhaust silver. Quote
Sulzer201 Posted February 12, 2017 Author Posted February 12, 2017 Thanks for that little tip Eamonn...will do. Quote
jhb171achill Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I prefer that original look to the current one, I have to say.... Quote
DiveController Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Although the loco looks much betterwhen you paint the exhaust silver. .. so you can go and blacken it again There are not quite as many shots of the roof detail on the prototype, but mostly they show the exhaust in a rust color combined with a fair bit of blackening on the silver even when the loco itself was fairly clean Quote
enniscorthyman Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I will try and post up a photo later. Quote
Warbonnet Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 (edited) .. so you can go and blacken it again There are not quite as many shots of the roof detail on the prototype, but mostly they show the exhaust in a rust color combined with a fair bit of blackening on the silver even when the loco itself was fairly clean Overall black as per the roof doesn't capture the prototype though. It's a combination of silver, rust and diesel exhaust black. They do start out in life silver as far as I can remember. I have seen them painted silver as per Eamonn's suggestion and it really pops them out. Edited February 13, 2017 by Warbonnet Quote
