GNRi1959 Posted June 5, 2018 Posted June 5, 2018 At last, both a GNR(i) UG and U class will be arriving tomorrow to take charge of all operations at Omagh Goods Yard. Watch this space...... 2 Quote

GNRi1959 Posted June 5, 2018 Author Posted June 5, 2018 Stephen, I guess they did, it pays to be patient. Quote
GNRi1959 Posted June 6, 2018 Author Posted June 6, 2018 They arrived - I am sure many other IRM members know the feeling that I experienced today when these beauties arrived from OO Works. The GNRi U Class 4-4-0 and the all black UG Class 0-6-0. Well worth waiting for. 4 Quote
StevieB Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 I thought that they had sold out. I know that Leslie of Provincial Wagons has been trying to get a rerun of the UG, so what’s your secret? Stephen Quote

StevieB Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Was that top of their list for ones found unsold or returned? As far as I know they have not produced any more. Stephen Quote

If I had one I would have needed to add power pickups to the pony truck to get over my points, or alternatively fit 'keep-alive' capacitors to something like a Lenz Gold decoder. 4-4-0 will look great on Omagh junction. Weshty Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 ooooh. Very sharp intake of breath there. The UG class is a fine looking little model. Well wear sir. 1 Quote

Stephen I was told that the UG was actually assembled from parts they had in stock which is why it was unlined and available in black only. Something of a rarity. 1 Quote
Patrick Davey Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Congrats Tony on the acquisitions - I guess like me, most would have received their U & UG a year apart, so you've probably experienced double the exhilaration!!! The UG looks well in the unlined black too. Looking forward to seeing the locos in action and to seeing the layout develop. 1 Quote

Thanks Des, I'm cutting the ply back scenes at the moment so won't bring the locos into the shed until the dust settles! Quote

Yes, indeed and I had a quick run with them tonight, excuse the poor quality video 1 Quote
Patrick Davey Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 Great to have a fully authentic GNR(I) train!! Looks like a good job on the baseboard joints too, very smooth! 1 Quote

Yep, the Keep Alive (or Stay Alive) chip really does the trick with the little U Class - mind you it's disconcerting when it runs off the end of a test track and continues running on plywood! Glad you got your locos, Tony - nice wagons behind that UG!!!!! Edited July 13, 2018 by leslie10646 2 1 Quote
